I've been going to southern East Coast beaches since I was born and that's been quite a long time ago. I prefer my water temperature to be like bath water and that should NOT be a problem in HH in June. Given that, you do sometimes get "weird jet streams" or events...2 summers ago, the water was too cold for me in Va. Beach in August but that was VERY unusual. Also, I do NOT think June is "hurricane season". All of us who frequent the NC/SC beaches think of late August as the highest risk for that to happen. Enjoy! Consider a day trip to Savannah or Charleston while you're at HH. Lovely cities.

Just want to back up GoTravel.
the thought of a heated pool in SC in June has me chuckling. And the ocean temps in the Atlantic will be nothing like that in the Pacific. The Gulf Stream sucks tropical waters up the coast. In the Pacific, the Humbolt current sucks arctic water down the coast. You'll be fine. |
GoTravel,
It was the summer of 1989...there was a volcanic eruption somewhere or other and the whole summer was relatively cool. The week we were at Kiawah was unlike any I have ever experienced. My then boyfriend (now hubby) flew down and gave me the hardest time about how unseasonably cool it was while he was there. I seem to recall it was the latter half of the week... It was his first trip to Kiawah which is why it sticks. He still jokes about it! |
