One more thing, most trail maps contain a little section stating that the trail difficulty is relative only to other trails on that mountain. it is very often the case that a black diamond on one mountain is easier than a green circle on other mountains. trail ratings for different mountains should never be compared against each other.

So the "blues" at Cooper maybe a green at other resorts. A green at A-Basin is much harder than a green at say Breck. Trust me there is much more terrrain at Cooper for begginer/intermidiates than the big boys. This really is a pretty mountain. If you like wide open empty runs.

I don't see it mentioned yet, so I'm throwing in a vote for Steamboat. Great skiing for any level and the town is less expensive than Vail, Telluride, Aspen, etc. Once you pick a town, try calling "central reservations" in that town. I've been able to get good deals that way.
We were in the same boat 2 yrs ago. We opted for Breckenrige. It was perfect. Easy skiing, reasonable lodging near the slopes and one of the most charming towns we've ever seen.Trust me you can't go wrong if you're looking for easy greens and blues.

We are planning to spend Christmas week in Breckenridge at River Mountain Lodge. Any comments about the condos there?
We picked Breck because it's a real town and because our teenagers like snowboarding - which is supposedly pretty big in Breckenridge. Anybody have experience with snowboarding there?
