seetheworld and others..

It's Friday, and in the spirit of the weekend, I thought I'd share this:

Berry Blast

2 c. chilled vodka
8 raspberries
1 sprig tarragon
1 c. chilled o.j.
1 c. chilled cranberry juice
1/2 c. chilled grapefruit juice
1/2 c. orange flavored liqueur
Orange slices for garnish

In 2 cup glass combine vodka, raspberries and tarragon. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. Discard tarragon sprig; reserve raspberries. In large pitcher combine vodka, juices and liqueur.
To serve, place one raspberry in each ice-filled glass: top with vodka mixture. Garnish with orange slice.

Celebrate the summer. Gas prices have dropped to $2.95 here, and L'il Kim has finally been released from the Big House.
cheers, J.

seetheworld Jun 30th, 2006 11:48 AM

LOL! :D Man, people are gonna start to talk, jetset! :D

Hmmmm, is that 2 cups of vodka for one person, or do I have to share?? 8-}

starrsville Jun 30th, 2006 11:49 AM

Electric Lemonade -

Lemonade
Citron vodka
splash of Amaretto on top to "smooth things off".

Serve on ice. YUMMY!

FainaAgain Jun 30th, 2006 11:52 AM

Somebody's going to spoil orange liquor by mixing it with vodka? tsk, tsk, tsk...

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 11:59 AM

Faina~ I heisted the recipe from a magazine. Now if your going to get all huffy with someone who has 1/4 Russian blood, I will gladly mud wrestle you at the next big pow wow.
I prefer not to dilute either, btw!

kybourbon Jun 30th, 2006 12:02 PM

1 gallon sweet tea
1 fifth of Stoly peach vodka

seetheworld Jun 30th, 2006 12:05 PM

Sweet mother of all good things...there's now PEACH vodka??? :D

Bring on the booze, just what the doctor ordered! =-O

starrsville Jun 30th, 2006 12:06 PM

OMG, kybourbon. My new "sweet tea"!
Thank you!

kamahinaohoku Jun 30th, 2006 12:07 PM

A Sauza Conmemorativo Tequila gimlet on the rocks, please.
((S))((*))

CAPH52 Jun 30th, 2006 12:14 PM

Oooh, that sounds good Kybourbon ! ((Y))

JAGIRL Jun 30th, 2006 12:24 PM

jetset
where & when would the next pow wow be? And where do we get tickets?
:)

kybourbon Jun 30th, 2006 12:24 PM

The local wine shop has free tastings every weekend and they served this a few weeks ago. WARNING - You can't taste the alcohol in it.

FainaAgain Jun 30th, 2006 12:30 PM

Russians are coming to San Francisco for mud wrestle? Interesting :)

Kal, where art though??

CAPH52 Jun 30th, 2006 12:31 PM

Which, with hard liquor, is double trouble for me, kybourbon. Unlike beer or wine, it sneaks up on me. One moment I don't feel a thing, next moment I'm totally bombed :-!

AnnMarie_C Jun 30th, 2006 12:32 PM

Haven't tried it yet but The Barefoot Contessa made this a few weeks ago...
sounds really yummy for a hot night...

Lemon Drop Cocktail (aka lemonade??)

2 cups frozen vodka
1/2 c fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 c superfine sugar
1 lemon, thinly sliced
ice

Combine the vodka, lemon juice, and sugar and pour into a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into martini glasses and garnish with lemon slices.

We don't own a shaker or martini glasses so most likely will substitue with a ziploc plastic container and a margarita glass! :-)

I'm lovin' this thread! Like my psycho spin class gal demands GIMME MORE!!

Also, between super sips, a simple yes or no to my VIP poll, unkay?

1. Do you believe aliens actually landed at area 51? y.n.

:)thanks, and I'll expect some cooperation. Your reward will be a naughty joke from Australia or another drink ress-i-pee. J.

3. I haven't heard the whole story...would swing towards Barbara right now, but still open.

Ann Marie: I tried Oprah's Legend's Lemon Drop Martini recipe and it was bascially the same, just over ice instead of freezing the vodka, which sounds like it would make it even better!

Here's one I sampled at a baby shower last weekend that was great:
Coffee-kahlua punch
Categories: Beverages
Yield: 18 Servings
8 ¼ c Hot strong brewed coffee
1/3 c Sugar
4 c Skim milk
1 tb Vanilla extract
1 ¼ c Kahlua or other coffee-flavored liqueur
5 c Vanilla ice milk, softened
1 Square semisweet chocolate, (1-ounce) coarsely
INSTRUCTIONS: Coffee mixture Combine coffee and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves. Stir in milk and vanilla; cover and chill. Combine chilled coffee mixture and Kahlua in a punch bowl; stir well. Spoon tablespoons of ice milk into coffee mixture; stir until ice milk melts. Sprinkle with chocolate. Yield: 4-1/2 quarts (serving size: 1 cup). Here's one DD invented this week.
The new Coke Blak(fizzy coffee and coke) and bourbon. Reminds me of the KY cocktail sold at Makers Mark Lounge in Louisville - Ale8One and bourbon. http://www.makerslounge.com/menu-drinks.php

LordBalfor Jun 30th, 2006 01:44 PM

My contribution for your holiday cheer:

BayouGal Jun 30th, 2006 01:56 PM

Okay, folks. I thought we started this on Saturday evening. Now we're starting on Friday?! And this is a holiday weekend?! Lordy, this is gonna be fun!;-)

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 01:57 PM

LordBalfor~ hooooeeee. finally an easy way to dump those last five pounds.
After the firemen hose my driveway off and the birds return, I'll crawl out to the deck on all fours(not wanting to rip the bandage by sitting), and lay facedown on the lounge chair in my white robe, remembering the strains of Boot Scoot Boogie and clutching the ice pack like a long lost friend...

BayouGal Jun 30th, 2006 02:24 PM

I've only heard bits and pieces . . . what's the whole Star/Barbra WaWa story?

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 02:31 PM

Go to CNN.com, click on the Larry King Show, then transcripts. You can then read any of Larry's interviews. Star was on yesterday. J.

BayouGal Jun 30th, 2006 02:35 PM

Thanks, J, but don't know if I'm that interested. 8-}

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 02:36 PM

BayouGal Jun 30th, 2006 02:38 PM

How ya been doin, J?

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 02:41 PM

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 02:45 PM

jetset1 Jun 30th, 2006 02:46 PM

seetheworld Jun 30th, 2006 02:48 PM

I was hoping there'd be some mud fights on that show. They're slinging mud now, but will it be as good as Jetset and Faina? :D

BayouGal Jun 30th, 2006 02:48 PM
