by the way, the locks tour sounds great, but we only have about 24 hours in Seattle, and not sure we have time for it. we'll be there mid-july, after the 4th.

While I normally poo-poo such things, everybody I've spoken to who's taken the Duck tour - http://www.ridetheducksofseattle.com/main.htm - has raved about it as a fun experience. Combined with a ferry ride, it might just fill the bill for part of an afternoon.
