Sea Lice
 

Are sea lice a problem year round in the Fort Lauderdale area? Or are they only out in the late spring? Thanks . . .

What are SEA LICE?! Are they what they sound like? Ewwww!!!

Sea lice are little orange bugs that get in your hair while swimming along shallow waters in Florida. They attach to your hair, won't let go and lay eggs. They're caused by school aged children sharing combs and showers and towels on crowded beaches. They gravitate toward people of northern European ancestry and those who voted for Al Gore. They're most bothersome along the shores of Dade County Florida. Beware the dreaded 'hanging lice', 'pregnant lice' and 'dimpled lice'.

Kate, sea lice are the larvae of jelly fish. They are sometines a problem <BR>along the East coast of Florida during the period roughly described as "Between <BR>Mother's Day & Father's Day". The <BR>severity of the problem varies from year to year.

Perhaps Jesse and Sam know a little too much about said lice. What might be useful to know is whether this infestation has migrated northward and invaded St. Pete (fka Petersburg) Beach scene.

Gosh, whatever happened to the FL site ... it used to be so lively. Did Fodor execute one format change too many, I wonder. Well, off to the European ... maybe they're still kicking over there. :&gt;
