Sandford Airport
I am traveling to Florida next week and I just realized that my airport is not Orlando Int. is Sanford Airport. Can someone please tell me if there is a shuttle bus that I can take to Staybridge Suites Lake Buena Vista or how to get there. I really don't want to rent a car.
Any suggestions? |

Bad mistake, it is Sanford and in the middle of the boonies. |
Well, its the only flight from my hometown. The ticket says Orlando/Sanford Airport.
Thank you for the info. I really appreciated it. |
Sanford is the south end of the Auto Train if you wanted to load your own car in Lorton VA.
Almost as bad as the guy that got off the train in Las Vegas New Mexico instead of taking the connector bus to Las Vegas Nevada. |
A taxi is probably an option for you.
|
Ugh. Well, not a taxi, for sure. Although both Sanford and Lake Buena Vista are in the Central Florida metro area, Sanford is in the far NE quadrant and LBV in the SW. You will have to travel through traffic around 50 miles, and right now I-4 is under serious construction and a real mess.
A rental car and taking the 417 loop to avoid I-4 might be the best for you. Or maybe try Uber? Sorry.. |
"A rental car and taking the 417 loop to avoid I-4 might be the best for you. Or maybe try Uber?"
Better advice could not be given. Avoid I-4 through downtown at all cost. |
This link will give you the various transportation companies serving the Sanford airport:

If your arrival coincides in any way with rush hour periods, you might need to multiply that several times if you become an I-4 hostage. |
Even if you don't want to rent a car, you may be better off doing that. It's going to cost you about $150 to take a car service to the hotel. That's each way. A rental car will be much less.
|
Just bring your GPS. Maybe you could split a service with someone else on your flight. Are you flying on Allegiant?
|
Thank you very much for your information.
Yes, I am flying with Allegiant. |
In some areas Allegiant likes to bundle car rentals and hotels along with the flight. Check on the Allegiant website.

Somebody mentioned to take a taxi to Seminole Centre and then get a bus LYNX to Orlando.
What do you think? |
To me relying on Orlando area public transit sounds like a nightmare that will likely take hours, but if you are really that resistant to driving and aren't willing to spring for the cost of a car service, I don't see many options. There are no shuttles available, so it's really 1) private transfers; 2) driving a rental car; or 3) whatever you can find out about public transit.

What do you think?" I think that sounds like a nightmare. Here is a map of the lynx system and it looks like multiple transfers and probably several hours from Sanford/Seminole Town center to Lake Buena vista. http://www.golynx.com/resources/pdf/...Map-042416.pdf My advice, rent a car and take the 417. |

That is not a practical solution. Either use Uber or a taxi (and pay a king's ransom), or rent a car an take SR 417 as others have suggested. _______________________________________________ Vic's travels: http://my.flightmemory.com/vogilvie |
OR . . . possibly cancel your flight and book w/ an airline that actually serves where you want to go. (A connecting flight will likely be a lot easier than this mess)
|
You probably paid a bargain price to fly on Alligiant Airlines so paying for a taxi or rental car needs to be part of your travel planning.
|
Thank you very much for your info.
I am canceling the flight. I am glad I ask you otherwise it would have been a nightmare. I have traveled to several countries and I always get answers to questions that I might have through this forum and all the time they have been assertive. Thank you again! |
>>You probably paid a bargain price to fly on Alligiant Airlines<<
IME Alligiant is seldom a bargain because they charge extra for everything. Their main benefit is they serve several secondary markets/routes that have few other options. But one pays for that. letty33: What town were you flying out of? Maybe there is another airport you could use. |
