Roslaire still hasn't emailed me and I'm going to be unavailable for a couple of hours.

Paula, maybe she can contact you or Shanghainese and see if she can arrange a ride with you.

Otherwise, I'll be near SFO around 10:30-11 and can pick her up then.

Hope we can connect with her so she doesn't have to come in by taxi again!

See you all! Can't wait! :)

roslaire Aug 18th, 2007 07:46 AM

Sorry for the delay ladies.

I won't be able to make it today. I called E&O to have them let you know and sent a few emails.

I won't be able to come.

Sorry for the late cancellation.

Have fun. Enjoy. Maybe I can come to the next one. (if I'll be allowed to come, ahem.)

LindaL Aug 18th, 2007 08:17 AM

Bummer, Roslaire. Hope to get together with you in NYC next month. Take care.

FainaAgain Aug 20th, 2007 09:14 AM

I don't know if I'm unable to find a report or nobody posted.

It was another successful meeting, great choice of a restaurant, Shanghainese! E&O is in the Union Square area, the closest BART is Montgomery, no view to speak of, maybe partial view from the 2nd floor, but the inside decor makes up for it.

Tasty food served home-style for everybody to share. Wine - we had chardonnay from St Louis Obispo, forgot the name of course :) They have a long list of wines.

To my slight embarassment we sang happy b-day, and Paula and I got gifts. Thank you all!

We just sat and talked and ate and drank. And you know what? I'm ready for a next GTG :))

paula1470 Aug 20th, 2007 09:25 AM

Thank you Shanghainese for picking E&O, the food and the decor was lovely. However, the best part was the company. We were there about 3 hours and it flew by. Next time we will have to make it a longer GTG because we have so much to discuss.

I was also slightly embarassed about the singing but I enjoyed co-celebrating my birthday with Faina and all my Bay area Fodorite friends.

We'll start planning the next one soon.

Shanghainese Aug 20th, 2007 09:31 AM

I am posting the glorious foods we consumed since that's all I'm good for.

E&O Platter 2 each of Peanut chicken with dipping sauce (d/p) of indonesian spices, soy & peanut sauce, Sesame steak marinated with soy, garlic & ginger, Sugar cane prawn cake with thai d/p of garlic, lime & coconut milk, Ginger portobello glazed with sweet soy.

Roti griddle fired with singaporean d/p, Spicy sweet potato naan w 2 d/p's of cucumber raita & mango chutney.

Corn Fritters withd/p of indonesian chili soy, Salt/pepper calamari with d/p of green chili, Duck imperial rolls with d/p of thai basil, star anise & spicy plum, Chicken lettuce cups with d/p of chang mai ginger, kaffir lime, roasted rice & chili garlic sambal.

All washed down with San Luis Obispo Edna Valley 06' Chardonnay.

Dessert list to follow ...

Shanghainese Aug 20th, 2007 11:38 AM

Now for desserts with candles on top --

Chocolate mac nut tort, Rum caramel banana spring rolls with ice cream, Tropical tapioca pudding parfait and Melon white tea sorbet!

MelissaHI Aug 20th, 2007 12:28 PM

Sounds like a great time....love the corn fritters!!

artlover Aug 20th, 2007 03:46 PM

Sounds like a great time. I'm getting hungry just reading about the menu!

trippinkpj,
My November dates are Nov. 10-16. Would love to join you all!

iamq Aug 20th, 2007 04:21 PM

Did anyone take pictures?

easytraveler Aug 20th, 2007 04:29 PM

Shanghainese and Faina: kudos for a terrific choice of restaurant and for all the hard work you both put into pulling this one together for us.

We had a GREEAT time togethet! Always! Lots of talking and eating and not as much drinking this time as everyone had to drive somewhere except for the "native" San Franciscan, Faina!

Paula, I'm so sorry about your camera. Did you get to a camera shop at all? Hope it's OK. :(

artlover: I'll put you on my calendar if you'll put me on yours. First week of November in Seattle.

roslaire, trippin, withkids, and others: very sorry we missed you this time but there's always a next time! :)

Shanghainese Aug 21st, 2007 07:58 AM

My pleasure to seek out eateries any time, just let me know when the next GTG is!

FainaAgain Aug 21st, 2007 08:09 AM

Iamq, only Paula had a camera this time.

paula1470 Aug 21st, 2007 09:08 AM

ET - My camera seems to be OK. However there was only one picture of us on there instead of the 2 the waiter took. So maybe the last picture was erased when the camera fell. I will try to post the picture soon although I might need some help on how to size it right for posting. If nothing else, I can do the link to kodakgallery which is where I store my pictures.

roslaire Aug 21st, 2007 01:04 PM

I am definitely going to clear the weekend next time. Missed seeing you, because I was really looking forward to it.

artlover Aug 21st, 2007 04:29 PM

easytraveler,
I'm going to be THERE--in S.F.--Nov. 10-16--but if you're going to be here--in Seattle the first week, yes, let's get together in Seattle. Otherwise, sometime Nov. 10-16 in S.F.

easytraveler Aug 21st, 2007 05:15 PM

Paula: boy, is that a relief about your camera! I was feeling really badly since it passed from my hand to yours - and dropped on the floor! Please post the single piece of evidence that we were even together! :)

artlover: I'll arrange the GTG here if you'll arrange the one in Seattle. Which day would work best for you? Lunch or dinner? What type of cuisine? I'll get with Shanghainese and Faina and see what we can come up with. Not lacking for choice around here. LOL!

As for Seattle, if it's just you and me, then Friday lunch would work, Nov.2. Otherwise, if a larger group, then Friday night might work better. I'd love to see your DH again too! We sure talked a lot, didn't we? :)

roslaire: see you at the next SF GTG, which might be in October or see you at the November one.

Leburta Aug 21st, 2007 08:18 PM

Sounded like a great time. Waiting for the pictures!

artlover Aug 21st, 2007 09:17 PM

easyrider,
that's a deal! I'll arrange it for Seattle for Nov. 2. I've been having lunch with another fodorite who is terrific, and I know you'd like her too and we can just see who else wants to show up. And then you can have dinner with DH and me--I know he'd love to chat some more with you!

As for SF--dinner would probably be best but if that's not good for others, I could do lunch too. I won't have a car, but will be staying near the Civic Center. I'm open to all types of food.

We could go into more detail on e-mail--mine is [email protected]

Sounds like fun!

easytraveler Aug 21st, 2007 09:25 PM

artlover: will email you tomorrow and we can make more detailed plans.

Right now watching "God's Warriors" with Christiane Amanpour - absolutely fascinating!

See you tomorrow! :)
