I agree with Sally. You guys (jim, bob, and particularly Fred) are a bunch of loosers. I didn't see you do anything for Sally, huh? The only thing I think Sam did to you was assume he was better than you and that probably irked your sense of being a superior poster. Seems to me you guys are serious imposters, esp Fred Small. Fred, get a life.

To sam, I sent you an email at [email protected] and haven't received a reply. If you can, please take a look at it. Either way thanks.

noname Dec 9th, 1999 08:03 AM

You people are too much. You actually believe that Sally bit. Unbelievable. Get real!

AnnLanders Dec 9th, 1999 08:45 AM

OK. You are simply two Columbia U students having a go at this serious travel forum, aren't you!

Greg Batjiaka Dec 10th, 1999 10:34 AM

I don't know about others but I do know that personally I sent Sam an email a couple of days ago and he really helped me. He got me a better time at a restaurant (Aureole) and told me what to get and stay away from. One person in the party didn't listen and got the tuna and it was really dry like he said. So Sam, I'm obviously a fan. You are a different type of poster. Others like to talk but you do.

I also would like to add that Sam was great to me. I emailed him at [email protected] and he helped me order at China Grill and gave me some good tips. I made my own reservation there but his help was appreciated. I think he memorized the menu!!! Alert to all posters - Sam helps. Stop bashing him and see. He's what the Fodors site should be about to the extreme

Dr. Abate lives on the Fodors boards!

Sam helped me, too. He helped me get my laundry whiter and brighter, and also told me definitively where the yellow went when I brushed my teeth with Pepsodent. Thank you Sam for getting me in at that hot restaurant where I had the best table in the house and also the best dishes, on and off the menu, and also arranging for the chef to fall in love and propose to me, but I couldn't accept because you already fixed me up with Alan Cumming, and that's going swimmingly, as you can imagine. I'm the toast of both Broadway AND the NY restaurant scene. THANK YOU!!!

noname Dec 10th, 1999 12:35 PM

Bless you, Nothing Personal, for a great posting. I can't believe some of these people.
I had a thought: Do you think that Sam is really Dr. Abate?

Bonjour Dec 10th, 1999 01:26 PM

You see, mes amis, this is what happens when people live too long in Noo Yawk. They talk to nobody but themselves...and become bored.

lucy in the sky Dec 12th, 1999 02:48 AM

I think this whole board needs to lighten up and have more fun....and stop analyzing every word!
And this IS the real me.
Dianna Dec 12th, 1999 07:45 AM

THIS IS A SHARING BOARD - the same thing happened on a business related board I frequent. Sam is refreshing and has things to share, if you don't like his advice go to another. This is a sad world if you think your way is the only right way. I am here to share and learn - please come back Sam and share your views of the big apple.

tiredofthis Dec 12th, 1999 09:38 AM

By now most have us have figured out that Sam is writing most of the posts in different guises and it is a "look at me, I'm important" situation. It is also obvious that he is quoting from several sources in his "reviews," as many are word for word from the Times, etc. Take it for what it's worth folks, but please recognize that for the most part (except for this and a couple of others) he is having a monologue, damning and praising himself. I'm writing this now as this is already at the top of the listings. I'm sure "Sam/Sally/andthe rest of the folks will keep this going ad nauseum. I speak for the many who know exactly what you are doing, Sam. "Why" is yours to know.

jm Dec 12th, 1999 06:45 PM

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Sam Hempell Dec 13th, 1999 11:55 AM

Dear Tired of this and other morons:

I am not Abate. And I am not posting under other names. I have helped some people out and others like my reviews. Its one thing to waste your time writing reviews for mostly provincial and idiotic readers. Also, there are some who say "Don't brag" like the moron who wrote that he used to "write the blurbs" for Zagats (very impressive, goober. The eaters write them, you just paste). Somebody also wrote me a post about getting them into Nobu but why on earth would I do that for you nincompooped, inconsiderate buffoons? I am gone forever. For the first 10 people I have helped on my hotmail adrs, I will continue to help. The rest of you can read, safely tucked away in bed, that your little fiefdom remains unchallenged. Go ahead. Make somebody happy. I challenge you to get somebody into Nobu or somebody the prime table in Aureole. You can't do it bc you are all charlatans. The real thing ate you up, eh? Ha. I laugh in your pathetic faces

noname Dec 13th, 1999 01:14 PM

Oh, gee, Sam Hempell is leaving us. Oh, goodness, how will we ever survive! We will be so lost without him. We're destined to eat at McDonald's forever, as we'll never get reservations anywhere. Alas! Sigh!

M.M. Dec 13th, 1999 01:30 PM

YES ! Oh YES!!!! Now I can truly say thank you Sam Pimple err Hempell.Go in peace but by all means GO !!!!

Joanne Dec 14th, 1999 02:59 AM

Sorry to see you go, Sam. I liked your style of writing, as I'm sure some others did. I guess you're just a little TOO knowledgeable for this forum. You must have made some of those nasty posters seem even MORE inadequate...

noname Dec 14th, 1999 04:25 AM

Too knowledgeable? Joanne, surely you jet!

fred small Dec 15th, 1999 10:58 AM

Okay, Sam - I know you're ABATE. And Sally And James Lee and countless others. Don't try to kid us - we know you're reading all of this and loving the attention, poor affectionless person that you are. The problem is you've said goodbye to this posting, so now you can't do your cute retorts. Stick to your guns, Sam. Ciao for now. PS. I contacted Nobu - and guess what, they said "Sally who?" I spared you the embarrassment of asking if they knew who Sam was.

sam hempell Dec 16th, 1999 04:11 PM

Fred (very?) Small

Next time you need to talk to Laura. Ask her if Sally Rice ate on that night. Also Sam Hempell is not my real name as I would hope Fred Very Small is not yours. I am getting a kick out of riling you up so much. Were you ignored as a child? Not enough nipple, ijut?

fred very small Dec 17th, 1999 08:37 AM

Sam - I just called Nobu, and guess what, they said, and I quote: "Laura who?" You really haven't riled me up yet. In fact, I'd say something nice about you, such as you do have some good views, but I'm sure that would encourage your rudeness all the more. Remember, I did try to e-mail you at your non-functioning site. By the way, I'm sure the women who read your messages will love your breast references. Ciao - really, this has gone on long enough. I intend to try another site after the holidays. Have a good holiday season, Sam, and try not to take all of this quite so seriously. And you know what, if you altered your style just a tiny bit, and tried some softness and a human touch, I bet your views would be accepted more gratefully, and could in fact help a few more folks. I bet you're not such a bad sort underneath all that guff. But I really have no place offering advice, frail human that I am. Have a good one. And a good 2000, too !!!! Bye, bye.
