Recommend a Culinary Tour in San Francisco???
 

My mom & I are getting away at the end of this month & would love to experience a unique culinary tour. Both of us truly enjoy cooking/eating great food & would love to experience the more adventurous culinary side of the San Francisco.
Any recomendations?

Most of the commercial tours are for places like Chinatown and North Beach (or even Fisherman's Wharf) and I could/would not recommend any. If you are interested in a Chinatown tour the Wok Wiz gets favorable reviews, even from locals. In the Kitchen with Lisa does a Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto tour i.e. Chez Panisse territory or a Ferry Building tour that seem less touristy.

You should also check out the Ramekins website - www.ramekins.com - they occaisionally have very good San Francisco foodie tours, typically of Chinatown with a chef. I have yet to go, but have friends that have loved it. Hope that their schedule works with yours.

San Francisco is small enough to get around that you can just make your own culinary tour. What type of cooking do you enjoy? Many Fodorites can probably advice the best places for each category. On the higher scale, you should try Gary Danko, Masa's,& Fleur de Lys which will not disappoint.
