You can read reviews here on both:

You might find the location of The Belmond more convenient esp if this is a first time visit. FM is a good location for some good restaurants, though. I stayed at Belmond last year.

Definitely the Belmond! Major, recent, and gorgeous renovations throughout. Plus, the location can't be beat. It is central to everything. The Francis Marion is historic, has lovely room furnishings as well as a beautiful lobby, but some of those rooms have bathrooms that can be quite small. For one night though it shouldn't matter much.
The Peninsula Grill across the street from the Belmond is a wonderful splurge place for dinner. |
Can they get into 2 Meeting Street?
|
No idea on availability but we adore The Wentworth Mansion. It is fabulous.
