Anyone know anything about the Rio?

Leona Mar 31st, 2004 08:56 AM

Fodors,
Why are you allowing this pig to continue to post?

And why is anyone even responding? It only encourages him. It doesn't matter in which hotel he stays. All he needs to do is cruise the strip, collect the literature that is handed out & make a selection.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:07 AM

Leona,

I am actually looking for serious advice and recommendations. I plan on booking my hotel before arriving in Sin City, so your advice regarding cruising the strip and looking at literature is useless...but thanks anyway.

I also wanted to have a little fun with it, but apparently not everyone enjoys this type of humor. Some, such as Trisha, do find if funny. Others are more conservative.

As for me being allowed to post, you just called me a "pig", which I take great offense to. I assume there is some type of rule on this board against verbally attacking and insulting people.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:12 AM

The reality is I'm really not looking to score out in Vegas. I'm looking for a good atmosphere with good "eye candy".

That's it. Plain and simple.

lisa_daniels Mar 31st, 2004 09:13 AM

The MGM also has a topless pool. They call it the Director's Pool. It's my husband's favorite. We always stay at the MGM and we are late 20's-early 30's. It is a good crowd and there are several great nightclubs in the MGM. They are running specials on their web site.

marla07 Mar 31st, 2004 09:22 AM

You're offended because someone called you a pig? How about not calling females "Eye Candy"? That offends me. Anyone who would visit a "cat house" is looking for more action than what you deem "Eye Candy". I feel sorry for your friend's fiancee.

Loki Mar 31st, 2004 09:26 AM

I've been to the topless pool at Caesars and there wasn't much to look at. People who have stuff to look at usually don't parade around the topless pool. The people who do go there aren't exactly easy on the eyes.

Mandalay attracts a lot of kids now, especially in the summer. The do have a new topless pool at The Hotel at MB, but I'd be surprised if it's much different from Caesars.

Rio was decent last summer but it's bush league compared to Hard Rock and the Palms where the all-stars come out to play. It might be a good compromise as you can hang out at the pool during the day and the Palms is near by to go out at night.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:34 AM

lisa,

Thank you for your feedback. Are most of the guests at the MGM in your age range?

Lucky husband you have! Do you partake in the European sun bathing?

Austin Mar 31st, 2004 09:34 AM

I dunno, I find this kinda funny. Maybe I'm too old to be pissed. Or maybe not old enough? Really, the most offensive thing is his screen name. Guffaw.

Go - didn't know you had implants! ;)

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:39 AM

Marla, just joking. I wasn't offended at all. I think my skin is a bit thicker than your skin if you are offended by the term "eye candy" on a message board. I was joking about the "Cat House" too, because another female poster made a joke about it.

lisa_daniels Mar 31st, 2004 09:46 AM

Taco,

I would say that most people are in that age group. There is a lazy river which attracts families, but there are enough pools for everyone. I didn't take part is the topless sunning last time I was there because we got married at the MGM and my family was there too!! There are certain things that your dad and brother don't need to know about!

TedTurner Mar 31st, 2004 10:11 AM

I can't remember the last time I saw such a crass set of posts from someone over the age of 16.
In fact, I strongly suspect that the original poster is simply a junior high school student baiting people with these ridiculous comments.
The only people who publically use the terms he uses are boys who have never actually experiencd any of the things he's fantasizing about.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 10:19 AM

LOL...this coming from "Ted Turner".

The only person who would use a handle like that is someone who can't find 2 nickels in his pocket.

bigdog50 Mar 31st, 2004 10:22 AM

Tuna -- you da man! You post obviously contrived statements worded in a way to stir the sh*t, then you admit you were trolling, then you ask nice questions without the embellishment -- and you still get a couple of large bites! Love it. For cryin' out loud folks, its Vegas, he's playing up the lounge lizard act, and getting ready to get into character to chase down the DrunkenBrittneys that hang out there.

Love your description of trolling -- I always think of it like what the big shipping boats do in the ocean -- tie some stinky bait to a big hook and drag it along the bottom until something bites -- and you hooked a couple of 'em.

First - I am an oldfart with boys probably your age, but I have stayed at the Rio a few times in the last 18 mos and late on Fri and Sat nites the "eyecandy" comes out for the "deesco". There are even tons of bachelorette parties that happen there because of the Chippendales show. But I would just drop in there late -- Time your stop there for when Chippendale show lets out........ Otherwise I think the HR is better suited for spending most of your time. hey -- enjoy!!

E Mar 31st, 2004 10:33 AM

When did it become an offense for a straight man to say he likes looking at hot women?? "eye candy" offensive? Please! This kind of humourlessness gives feminism a bad name.

Loki Mar 31st, 2004 10:43 AM

I love it when people try and blame kids for things they don't like. As if some 16 year old kid has nothing better to do then troll a travel message board. It's when you're old and washed up that such things might bring a thrill. A 16 year old is probably too preoccupied with chasing after funbags.
