Question about Las Vegas hotels...

Hey, how's it going?

What's the best hotel to stay at in Vegas for decent rooms, good pool, and plenty of silicone fun-bags to stare at poolside? Any pools allow thongs?

Anyone ever stay at the Stratosphere? What's up with this place? It cost less than a night at a crack house in Harlem! Is it that bad? Any good tail at the Stratosphere?

Help. I'm serious. Please recommend a place with good eye candy.

ChristieP Mar 29th, 2004 04:33 PM

Sounds like you'd fit right in at the Hard Rock Hotel...

OneTwoThree Mar 29th, 2004 04:36 PM

Palms.

travelinwifey Mar 29th, 2004 04:45 PM

The Hard Rock is located around a lot of strip clubs, when I was there recently there was lot's lot's lots silicone. Personally I find the clientele a little sleezy but if you're a young single what the heck! Palms gets very attractive people.

Stratosphere is at the far end of the strip (the older end), several miles from the above mentioned places.

TunaTaco Mar 29th, 2004 04:57 PM

Thanks. I've heard the Hardrock has some real filthy girls...which isn't a bad thing. I stayed at the Palms once and was rather impressed with the poolside flesh, but I'm looking to try something new.

What about the Mandalay? Hot chicks? Think it's too classy for me?

travelinwifey Mar 29th, 2004 05:12 PM

I don't see a problem as long as you act like a proper gent. But I do know MB is very strict and allows hotel guests only. They check keys and ID. Don't know about the other places.

travleis Mar 29th, 2004 06:15 PM

Man are you guys slow on the uptake.
Can't you see the big red flashing lights between the lines reading "TROLL POST"?

Patrick Mar 29th, 2004 06:17 PM

Considering Tuna Taco's other posts, mainly for trips to Mexico, I'd suspect he's not a troll at all, just a horny young guy with very bad taste.

travleis Mar 29th, 2004 06:26 PM

...and don't women just get all weak in the knees around guys like that?

TunaTaco Mar 30th, 2004 02:34 PM

Troll? What does that mean in the "Message board World"? Moron just looking for a reaction?

Seriously, I was joking around with some of the terminology I used...sorry if it offended anyone.

The reality is I'm heading out to Las Vegas with about 6 guys...sort of a mini-bachelor party weekend for my friend. We would like to stay at a place with a younger, partying crowd. We have stayed at the Palms and would like to try something new.

I know the Hard Rock is a party crowd, but it's so damn expensive. Seems to be cheaper at the Mandalay. Anyone know what the guests are like, in general, at Mandalay?

FainaAgain Mar 30th, 2004 02:40 PM

Taco, I love your description of "troll" :)>-

Trisha Mar 30th, 2004 02:41 PM

Tuna Taco, I showed my husband your post because I thought he would be amused. He suggests you just go over the cat house which is legal in Nevada.
.......Wait a minute, how does he know about that...

travelinwifey Mar 30th, 2004 02:46 PM

Depends on when you're going. The hotel seems to draw a large amount of Asians certain times of the year. In general it is a youmg, hip crowd but during the summer many families stay there because of the pool. The nightlife scene is pretty good though.

rjw_lgb_ca Mar 30th, 2004 02:51 PM

TunaTaco, your definition of "troll" is spot-on accurate!

Now, for a bachelor-party kind of crowd, the Hard Rock is really ideal. It's rock-'n'-roll trashy. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The Palms, IMHO, tries way too hard to be hot and trendy, which in itself is completely lame. C'mon, you WANT the Hard Rock. How expensive are we talking...?

Mandalay Bay is on the elegant side, probably not a good fit for your group, frankly (and the women in the "topless" pool area will probably frown on drunk guys ogling the European-style sunbathing). Maybe Caesar's Palace...?

The Stratosphere is kinda a last-resort resort; if you're from the LA area and you decided at 7 PM to drive to Vegas and you arrive at 11:30 and there are no rooms to be had somewhere *good*, you end up there. Or Circus Circus (I call it "Sh*thouse Sh*thouse" myself).

For a more frat-boy view of Vegas, check out cheapovegas.com. It's pretty up-to-date on Vegas goings-on, and it's funny to boot.

GoTravel Mar 30th, 2004 03:18 PM

With an M.O. like that, you better have the cash to back it up or you're gonna be lonely in Vegas.

TunaTaco Mar 30th, 2004 03:19 PM

Thanks for the help.

What is Caesar's like in terms of crowd and atmosphere?

Topless at the MB?? Okay, now we're talking!

P.S. Yes, a trip to the Cat House is probably on the menu too.

TunaTaco Mar 30th, 2004 03:21 PM

GoTravel,

Exactly! Which is why I'm looking to save a little extra on the Hotel. Too many other things to spend on.

GoTravel Mar 30th, 2004 03:25 PM

I'm serious Tuna. If you want to hot girls, you better be a whale. They're not looking for frat boys out to spend a couple hundred bucks. They are out for the big boys out to spend a couple hundred thousand.

Please try and not refer to us as "silicone fun-bags". It will not help your situation. Plus, it pisses us off.

beachpup Mar 30th, 2004 05:19 PM

I recall reading somewhere that Caesar's has a topless pool; but listen to GoTravel: If you are independently wealthy, incredibly lucky at gaming, willing to accept considerable debt, or a combination thereof, you can aspire to all your desires. But flashing two or three grand isn't going to do you jack with your desired clientle in Las Vegas.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 08:44 AM

GoTravel,

Trust me, I've been to Vegas and I'm not too worried about having luck out there. The "Whales" need to spend thousands of dollars because they look like Whales by the poolside.

That said, I'm no fratboy when it comes to my wallet...just my attitude. Thanks for the tips on how to bed a woman in Vegas...it's really tough out there! LOL.

What would you prefer? "Silicone Milk-Sacs"?

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 08:51 AM

Anyone know anything about the Rio?

Leona Mar 31st, 2004 08:56 AM

Fodors,
Why are you allowing this pig to continue to post?

And why is anyone even responding? It only encourages him. It doesn't matter in which hotel he stays. All he needs to do is cruise the strip, collect the literature that is handed out & make a selection.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:07 AM

Leona,

I am actually looking for serious advice and recommendations. I plan on booking my hotel before arriving in Sin City, so your advice regarding cruising the strip and looking at literature is useless...but thanks anyway.

I also wanted to have a little fun with it, but apparently not everyone enjoys this type of humor. Some, such as Trisha, do find if funny. Others are more conservative.

As for me being allowed to post, you just called me a "pig", which I take great offense to. I assume there is some type of rule on this board against verbally attacking and insulting people.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:12 AM

The reality is I'm really not looking to score out in Vegas. I'm looking for a good atmosphere with good "eye candy".

That's it. Plain and simple.

lisa_daniels Mar 31st, 2004 09:13 AM

The MGM also has a topless pool. They call it the Director's Pool. It's my husband's favorite. We always stay at the MGM and we are late 20's-early 30's. It is a good crowd and there are several great nightclubs in the MGM. They are running specials on their web site.

marla07 Mar 31st, 2004 09:22 AM

You're offended because someone called you a pig? How about not calling females "Eye Candy"? That offends me. Anyone who would visit a "cat house" is looking for more action than what you deem "Eye Candy". I feel sorry for your friend's fiancee.

Loki Mar 31st, 2004 09:26 AM

I've been to the topless pool at Caesars and there wasn't much to look at. People who have stuff to look at usually don't parade around the topless pool. The people who do go there aren't exactly easy on the eyes.

Mandalay attracts a lot of kids now, especially in the summer. The do have a new topless pool at The Hotel at MB, but I'd be surprised if it's much different from Caesars.

Rio was decent last summer but it's bush league compared to Hard Rock and the Palms where the all-stars come out to play. It might be a good compromise as you can hang out at the pool during the day and the Palms is near by to go out at night.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:34 AM

lisa,

Thank you for your feedback. Are most of the guests at the MGM in your age range?

Lucky husband you have! Do you partake in the European sun bathing?

Austin Mar 31st, 2004 09:34 AM

I dunno, I find this kinda funny. Maybe I'm too old to be pissed. Or maybe not old enough? Really, the most offensive thing is his screen name. Guffaw.

Go - didn't know you had implants! ;)

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 09:39 AM

Marla, just joking. I wasn't offended at all. I think my skin is a bit thicker than your skin if you are offended by the term "eye candy" on a message board. I was joking about the "Cat House" too, because another female poster made a joke about it.

lisa_daniels Mar 31st, 2004 09:46 AM

Taco,

I would say that most people are in that age group. There is a lazy river which attracts families, but there are enough pools for everyone. I didn't take part is the topless sunning last time I was there because we got married at the MGM and my family was there too!! There are certain things that your dad and brother don't need to know about!

TedTurner Mar 31st, 2004 10:11 AM

I can't remember the last time I saw such a crass set of posts from someone over the age of 16.
In fact, I strongly suspect that the original poster is simply a junior high school student baiting people with these ridiculous comments.
The only people who publically use the terms he uses are boys who have never actually experiencd any of the things he's fantasizing about.

TunaTaco Mar 31st, 2004 10:19 AM

LOL...this coming from "Ted Turner".

The only person who would use a handle like that is someone who can't find 2 nickels in his pocket.

bigdog50 Mar 31st, 2004 10:22 AM

Tuna -- you da man! You post obviously contrived statements worded in a way to stir the sh*t, then you admit you were trolling, then you ask nice questions without the embellishment -- and you still get a couple of large bites! Love it. For cryin' out loud folks, its Vegas, he's playing up the lounge lizard act, and getting ready to get into character to chase down the DrunkenBrittneys that hang out there.

Love your description of trolling -- I always think of it like what the big shipping boats do in the ocean -- tie some stinky bait to a big hook and drag it along the bottom until something bites -- and you hooked a couple of 'em.

First - I am an oldfart with boys probably your age, but I have stayed at the Rio a few times in the last 18 mos and late on Fri and Sat nites the "eyecandy" comes out for the "deesco". There are even tons of bachelorette parties that happen there because of the Chippendales show. But I would just drop in there late -- Time your stop there for when Chippendale show lets out........ Otherwise I think the HR is better suited for spending most of your time. hey -- enjoy!!

E Mar 31st, 2004 10:33 AM

When did it become an offense for a straight man to say he likes looking at hot women?? "eye candy" offensive? Please! This kind of humourlessness gives feminism a bad name.

Loki Mar 31st, 2004 10:43 AM

I love it when people try and blame kids for things they don't like. As if some 16 year old kid has nothing better to do then troll a travel message board. It's when you're old and washed up that such things might bring a thrill. A 16 year old is probably too preoccupied with chasing after funbags.
