pretheatre dining

Would like some suggestions for pretheatre dining in New York. French or seafood menus and not too expensive.

What is not to expensive? Do you have a price range? My idea of not expensive may not be the same as yours. However, one of my favorites in the area is Chez Josephine. French. Quoted in Zagat as $46 per person, but will be higher with alcohol.

Tennblu: The French Culinary Institute cooking school also operates a restaurant in Soho where its advanced students cook and it is wonderful, a 5-course french dining experience for $30! I eat there every time I go to NY. Check out the menu www.frenchculinary.com/subpages/ecole/ecole.html

There are several excellent French restaurants in the theater district. But, as Ellen wrote, how about an idea of what you consider "not too expensive"?<BR>Chez Josephine, Pierre au Tunnel, Rene Pujol are three good French restaurants, while Redeye Grill is recommended for seafood.

We've had seafood paella a couple of times at Meson Sevilla on West 46th and it was under $20, yet filled with shellfish and quite good. The place is not elegant, but it is busy and the staff is accommodating.
