Pre Theater Dinner
It's been two years since I've been in New York. I need an update on where to get a good pre-theater dinner, preferably prix fixe, around $30-40 per person. French, Italian, American, etc., but not too "ethnic." We're planning to go to three shows. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does your $30 to $40 budget include 15% to 20% tip and 8.875% tax?
|
Does it include drinks?
|
Check out Ammos on Vanderbilt and 45th St., the 3 course prix fixe is $33 and is a real bargain. Both the food and ambiance are top notch. It's Greek but really Mediterranean, I wouldn't consider it "too ethnic".

$33 p/f = $42.50, beverages likely not included (well, maybe water).
|
Not including drinks, taxes, or tips: $30-40 dollars.

Dafni is good. It's also Greek, but I don't view it as "too" ethnic.

Dafni doesn't have a prix fixe but was there last week and food was excellent not too expensive either.

By ethnic, it means ethnic with which you are familar.
|
By ethnic I meant something small and out Of the ordinary like Ethiopian or Peruvian

Check out Becco, 355 W.46th between 8th and 9th ave.
Trattoria Trecolori: 254 W.47th between 8th and Broadway Lattanzi: 361 W. 46th Street between 8th and 9th Ave. Capitol Grille in the Time Life Bldg. 120 West 51st St. first 3 are Italian; Capitol Grille is, well, a grill. |
Another vote for Dafni's - we were there in June for a post-theater meal.
