Click between "post a reply to this message" and your "back" arrow until the screen looks normal. Then the post will work.

Sometimes you have to click the "blank" "Post My Reply" twice to get the "normal" screen to appear.

Well, rkwan, my posting problems and situation are obviously not exactly like yours, are they? It doesn't simply take an extra five seconds on my computer, but thanks for diagnosing it all the same.

I've been out of town all day and decided to try it again, and now the "post a reply" box for typing posts is so far off screen I can hardly see it. And now, when I click on preview or post, a brand new window opens with the reply box---off to one side, of course. I've tried to post this six times, and have seven windows open as a result.

I don't have the tolerance and time for problems that don't show any signs of mitigation. Just one of my many character flaws :)

wow Jun 22nd, 2006 07:10 PM

kswl: just go to the right. Click on "post my reply"(blank reply). The "normal" screen then comes up.

rkkwan Jun 22nd, 2006 07:11 PM

kswl - It's the same problem. I've seen it 3-4 days, many times. Including just now when I tried to do this reply.

When you see that offset screen, do not do anything except hitting "back" to try again. No point, as your reply won't go through. Yes, I found out about that after my first unsuccessful reply.

Again, if you see anything unusual, go back. Then try again. I've done maybe 20 replies in the last few days, and it worked. At home, at work. IE, Firefox, Mozilla. PC, Mac.

forget all the left click, right clicks.

just take a hammer and smash the computer screen and go to bed.

I had the same results Caph. Using the top post worked. #-o

Well after three tries here, I can finally post I guess, I say with fingers crossed (hard to do when typing though).

I have posted on three to four post tonight..none got posted. What a waste of time.

bluestar Jun 22nd, 2006 09:26 PM

You've had no luck attempting to post a reply/start a thread as rkkwan has outlined above (3rd post above yours)?

Works for me.

HyacinthBucket Jun 22nd, 2006 09:35 PM

We use a web browser no one ever speaks of at Fodors: "Opera"

It is an excellent program very compact in size, loads and runs quickly. It is available in both a free version and one that costs a small fee that is well worth paying. It was written by a Danish company. Now you know how much that "free" browser you got with your computer is worth. European products have always been better. Upgrade your p.c. and spend more time browsing or touring and spend less time writing of your online woes.

I posted a lengthy TR a little while ago. After pasting in my first draft and making a few changes, I clicked to preview it. After previewing I went back to do some more editing. After editing for about 15 minutes I clicked to preview. Nothing changed. I went back to edit and did some more editing for 10-15 minutes. Then to preview. Nothing changed. I said to my self......"Self, hell with it!"....and posted it.

I guess right now the system will accept your first preview as final. Once previewed it will not let you edit. You have a choice of posting it as is or copy, erase and take it offline to edit, then re-post. I had messed with it long enough, so what you see in my TR is the first draft.

Oh well, I need another beer!

testing

starrsville Jun 22nd, 2006 09:37 PM

well, darn. It posted on the first attempt - first time in days.

Could it be fixed?

starrsville Jun 22nd, 2006 09:37 PM

Yep! I think so. Yahoo!

bluestar Jun 22nd, 2006 09:49 PM

It's not fixed.

I think the problem has something to do with those freekn expandable advertisements in the right margin.

jamaltay Jun 22nd, 2006 09:51 PM

Hyacinth,

It is not a browser problem!

kswl Jun 23rd, 2006 03:40 AM

emd--I did give up sewing years ago when I decided to "fix" the machine with a hammer. But I've been able to find Other People to sew for me; not sure I can find a similar, satisfying proxy experience for Fodor's :D

Malesherbes Jun 23rd, 2006 04:44 AM

I'm sure it's not fixed yet. This reply box was on the right side of the page.

NO not a browser problem, Bucket.

Jamaltay...that's a different problem altogether--an old one they have yet to fix. It happens any time you write something lengthy. You think you've got it all edited perfectly, then it posts with every spelling or gramtical error you ever made in it. :-]

DebitNM Jun 23rd, 2006 05:01 AM

Well, I WAS going to say that it was finally working for me this morning...until I just went to reply to THIS thread!!! and got the reply box all the way to the right.

I always "copy" what I've written...just in case. That way, I can "paste" in case something goes wrong with my reply or any original post I write. I learned the hard...having written something lenghty or detailed...only to have it not show up for some reason.

Technology...ain't it grand?

kswl: that is why I do NOT sew.
