thanks! can't wait to try out the restaurant suggestions in july.

Ahh, karen, you just have to mention the Pearl Bakery and I have this craving for cappucino and a gibassier! What did you have?

Paleys Place well deserves all of the rave reviews and rewards.
Ten01 is not in that class, sad to say, but it is a lovely space and good for lunch ( as kimamom did ) or for dinner..

Wildwood is a great recommendation but I still love Fenouil best of all ((L))
I would also appreciate it if someone in Portland would please send me a orange Margarita from either Bluehour or Vault...thank you ((D))

Scarlett Jun 8th, 2007 07:48 AM

Sorry, my internet cafe computer is editing my words...blood orange margarita ((D))
btw...a lot of times, when the restaurant is full, Paleys will put people out on the porch, but we found that reservations will help keep you inside the restaurant which is has a calm elegance about it .. a great place to have an anniversary dinner :)

Hi Scarlett- We had Latte's, a lemon cookie and a rhubard tart. It was beyond great. :-)

beachbum Jun 8th, 2007 08:22 AM

Just tell me where to send 'em, Scarlett! ;-) And I think some people dine on Paley's porch so they can keep an eye on their child asleep in the car across the street. ;-)

LOL beachbum:D

Scarlett--I had lunch at Fenouil today and thought of you. Another beautiful day here, and our group was so talkative we were there for over 2 hours and the restaurant was not annoyed at all. The scallops were sooooo good!!!

If I'm ever on Death Row, the last meal I'll ask for is the French Custard Toast (with roasted hazelnuts, bananas, and blueberries) from Cadillac Cafe.

I'll have to try some of the other places mentioned in this thread just to be sure, though. :)

Don--You need to try the Grand Marnier French Toast at Everett Street Bistro. Scarlett shared with me and oh my it was good!!!

Don Jun 8th, 2007 04:14 PM

Thanks, mms. We're going to Portland later this month and probably again in August, so I'll be sure to check it out!

I had that French toast at Everett Street Bistro a few times..we liked having a late Sunday brunch there..then afternoon drinks next door at Vault..good thing I left Portland, I was in danger of gaining weight lol..

Yes, beachbum, if it happened at Wildwood, it can happen at Paleys..lol

I saw the Everett Street Bistro, when I was in the Pearl recently. I want to try that French Toast real bad!

Fodorite018 Jun 9th, 2007 02:19 PM

Can I just say how I would love to have some of that french toast right now?! After sitting at a tournament all day, in the cold, wind and rain...something warm would really hit the spot!
