WhereCouldHeBe? Jul 10th, 2001 06:22 PM

Dear WhereCouldSheBe:
Oaktown would be good to hear from, but I would like to get Leone's perspective on this. Where is he? Probably too classy for this thread........

Hmmmm Jul 10th, 2001 06:34 PM

Classy?
Fruity, classy....you say tomato....

theotheredie Jul 10th, 2001 07:38 PM

Hello,
The other (cheapo, non-swearing) edie checking in here, then heading off to see what all the fuss is about ;^)

theother edieagain Jul 10th, 2001 08:12 PM

Oh my!
I've been known to use some of those words before but only when I've dropped something on my foot.
My parents aren't rich, just barely 'comfortable'. Thank goodness manners are free - they had plenty of those to pass down.
BTW- we squeezed a little more cash out of the budget and are crossing all Motel 6's off our list.
I'll post a trip report when we return -- under a new name ;^)

Babs Jul 10th, 2001 08:34 PM
To the real Edie Dickman:

I'm sorry to say that you deserved everything you got. From the tone of your other postings this isn't the first time you've had problems dealing with people. You obviously have trouble playing nice with the other children.

As another poster said, next time call your travel agent.

What_a_Fuss Jul 11th, 2001 12:06 AM

I think Edie did the right thing by apologizing and explaining her case. Since when have any of YOU not had a bad day, thus affecting the way you perceive messages or affecting the way you communicate?

xxx Jul 11th, 2001 08:42 AM

To What's The Fuss: Even on my worst days, I've never logged on to a forum and started to take out my frustrations out of unsuspecting posters who were just trying to provide me with some travel advice. Vulgar langauge is never appropriate on this forum, no matter what the reason for it's use. If Edie was having such a bad day that she couldn't control herself, she should have skipped logging in yesterday. I'd suggest some yoga tapes to help calm down.

traveller Jul 11th, 2001 09:07 AM

Well Edie - I think you deserve credit for apologizing. Obviously you took Sloans comments the wrong way and you have had the grace to say so.

I used to post using my own name and email address but got so many emails from people that I quit. I don't mind helping people but it gets to be a bit too much at times.

So, on that note, I'll say goodbye.

curiouser Jul 11th, 2001 09:20 AM

Maybe edie, oaktown travler, leone and a few others are all the same person. maybe they are all fragments of one person with multiple personality disorder.

yeahright Jul 11th, 2001 09:25 AM

That last post is just down right stupid.

hmmm Jul 11th, 2001 10:06 AM

curiouser, i have always thought that oaktown and leone were the same person...

yearight Jul 11th, 2001 10:11 AM

Leone provides good recommendations and has a decent attitude, oaktown traveler is shrill and doesn't give a fig about anyone but herself, considers all of us inferior and when called on the carpet reminds us that "it's just the internet", blah blah blah. Can't imagine ever using any recommendations provided by her.

Olive Oyl Jul 11th, 2001 10:21 AM

No, hmmm and curioser, L and Oaktown are very definitely different people; :> in truth, about as different as you can get. Common denominator is that both are quite bright. You won't find L boasting about his accomplishments, and all that he has. He speaks his mind...to a fault at times, but he does it honestly and when he's away, he's missed!! He's been gone 2 days and someone is already wondering about him. He's got his tootsies in the sand and surf of the Outter Banks right now. Oaktown would have us believe that she is "summering" in Martha's Vineyard. He'd never have used that obnoxious, "got rocks much better than thou's" terminology. L's travels are for real, as is his class (ahem, no comment necessary there). He's got a great sense of humor and is a caring and compasionate man, genuinely interested in the other guy, whereas Oaktown is inner directed. As for Edie's language...he's much too articulate for that.

yeahright Jul 11th, 2001 10:26 AM

Thank you Ms. Oyl. I think you've got it!

a-ha! Jul 11th, 2001 10:26 AM

A-HA!!! Olive and L are the same person!!!

yeahright Jul 11th, 2001 10:35 AM

Oh for pete's sake. I give up, going to lunch, see yall later.

hmmm Jul 11th, 2001 10:54 AM

olive oyl - spot on! as for why anyone would take oaktown's advice, well, that's not a toughie because she never actually gives travel advice! ever!

curious Jul 11th, 2001 10:55 AM

Perhaps Oaktown doesn't realize that "summering" means you actually spend the whole summer there, not just a few days. But then again she does seem to exaggerate everything, so thats par for the course!

a-ha! Jul 11th, 2001 10:55 AM

oh c'mon yeahright. just a little attempt at humour...

since this is a travel forum, how was lunch? where'd'ya go?

see Jul 11th, 2001 11:14 AM

Umm, FYI, Oaktown is a WOMAN.

People, really, get a life.
