Kay, use my favorite Search Engine to find pet friendly hotels in D.C.

www.google.com

type in search phrase:

washington d.c. pet friendly hotels

You'll get several websites to check out.
One is the Red Roof Hotel in Georgetown.

Thank you both for the information. I so appreciate the time given to answer questions on this site. It saves so much time for the questioner.
Thanks again.

Although not inexpensive, the Four Seasons hotel chain welcomes medium and small sized dogs and cats.

Try www.petswelcome.com! I found a B&B in Key West that accepts dogs!

I'm imagine there would be less expensive hotels that accept pets (just not sure which ones), but I do believe most Ritz hotels also accept small pets.

I recently stayed at the Carlyle Suites with my boxer (and my 15-yr-old son), and it was a great trip for all of us. The hotel advertises on their website that they welcome pets, and in fact they do - no extra charge, no hassle. My alternative was to board him for 3 nts (for a one-night trip) so this was obviously cheaper. The hotel is in a great location just off Dupont Circle. Rooms are okay - ask for a corner room on an upper floor for most light. They include furnished kitchenette w/refrigerator, stovetop etc. For more info on the hotel search 'Carlyle Suites' here . . . I'll look up the website and post it as well. Have fun!
They also have a sister hotel in Georgetown, but I don't have that address.
www.carlylesuites.com 800 964 5377

At any AAA office you can pick up a book just for accomodations which accept pets.
