Palm Desert to San Diego

We are staying in Palm Desert for a week and want to drive to San Diego for a ball game/day trip.

Any restaurant suggestions along the way?

Any other suggestions in Palm Desert would be great. LOVE authentic Italian and Mexican food.

Just back from san Diego and Palm Sprungs.

With the VERY greatest of respect, what is your definiton of "authentic?"

Dukey May 30th, 2007 07:27 AM

Sorry..that should be Springs..not sprungs.

OK authentic to me means...

Italian:
Housemade pasta (fresh pasta)
Wood burning oven for cracker thin pizzas

Mexican:
Homemade tortillas
Carnitas or conchinita pibil

CASTELLI’S is quite popular - I've enjoyed the food there.

Hi cmsitaly.

Well, I can recommend Riccio's in Palm Springs for Italian.

And depending in how adventurous you are, here are some thoughts on pretty authentic Mexican food.

Least adventurous (but very good): Rosamarillo's on the border between La Quinta and Indio at Ave 50 and Jefferson St.

More adventurous: Teresa's cafe, Mexicali Cafe and Aureola's, all in Indio. The stuffed bell peppers at Mexicali are to die for.

Have fun.
