TY Cali for the info - by the time I figured where we'd gone wrong, we had no more time to find it.

Right on both counts! On the day it occured, DS was bemoaning what a horrible day the day of his accident was. I turned around and exclaimed: "Oh no it's NOT! It's a wonderful day --- YOU are alive!!!"

You have to keep things in perpspective.

...and yes, da friend was so tolerant of my constant references to my vacation! She's a real gem!

The tidbit I'd forgotten:

We shared in Peter's joy, our valet at the Keahou Resort. While we were there, his 17 yr. old son was in Portugal, competing in the International Surfing Association World Junior Championships title.
Per the Honolulu Advertiser, he came up 5th in the boys 18 division. He missed the win by one point.
Previously in 2005, he had won the boys 16 division world championship.

How neat was that???

Very neat! It adds so much to a trip when you get to know - even a little bit - others around you.

Thanks again for a great TR!

Jeturned to this post, intigued by the promised "character" tidbit, as mentioned on the Kauai TR thread.
Another neat story! Fun to read about folks you met. "Getting to know you", tra la-- for better or worse, that's much of what colors impressions/memories/return fantasies (or not) of a place.
Another week or two of suspense re "The Return of the Necklace"

Sorry to be so long on the update on the necklace. It finally came after a few phone calls &, I forget but maybe about 6-8 weeks.
It was long enough for DS, but not the color I had requested. Anyway, DS graciously wore it a few times. I believe he liked it but would have preferred the darker color, leather cord, instead of the plant material 'weave' they sent. (
The guy actually got someone else to do it or help him do it.)
