Orcas Suites at Rosario on Orcas Island
Has anyone stayed here? The price seems almost too good compared to other places. Can't find any reviews about the property. Thanks, isy

This old place does not have a good reputation. When I toured in twenty years ago it was in decay. Having fallen on hard times, it was sold at auction a few months ago: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...1_dige01m.html

I was just up on Orcas week before last and was curious about what's going on at Rosario so I stopped by...the mansion was closed but the office for Orcas Suites was open so I went in there. They are basically what used to be the hillside rooms at Rosario. They are now a separate entity under separate management--those buildings were not part of what was sold or were sold separately, as I understand it.
It sounded like some of the rooms had been renovated since they took over but not all, so if you do stay there, I'd request a renovated room as I know the rooms were getting raggedy before the sale. There are lots of great places to stay on Orcas so I'd probably go elsewhere until things shake out a bit there, that's my two cents. |
Twenty-five years ago we stayed at Deer Harbor Inn when it was a funky joint. The cabin was about $60 and the dining room served stuff like liver and onions $7.95 with soup or salad. Great location and loads of upgrades I understand.

Thanks. That's all good to know. Think we'll stay with the Outlook Inn.
