Should be, "enthusiastic", of course. And I even previewed that more than once!

Love, I could not whine, I was car(bus) sick most of the trip :&
But there was still that sense of adventure..

L84SKY Aug 6th, 2006 03:36 PM

Yippee!!! Sonoma is beautiful and San Francisco is ... well they don't call it "The City" for nothing.
I've flown SW many times up, one of my favorite people lives in Sonoma county.

We just got tickets to Frankfurt this week with our rewards. The price was right and the destination superb. DH got the tickets,I wish he would have gotten them a little later in the morning. Getting to the airport at 6am is a bit early. After reading your post I feel fortunate that he's as excited as I am and wanted to get there first!

rncheryl - Hoorah!

What's with the Greyhound crack? We just flew SW from Oakland-Chicago and I was surprised at the amount of room in the seats. (Which doesn't mean I didn't want to whine and scream and act like a total baby - but then, flying is NOT my favorite activity).

And, like other posters, the outbound portion of our trip last month was on United - which did not send our luggage along (from ORD to Winnipeg), which then meant a frantic number of hours and a r/t cab to the airport on our own dime to retrieve the eventually shipped luggage in time to make our next (rail) connection.

Have a wonderful time!!

I fail to see how SW is the Greyhound of the Skies - their planes have the same amount of leg room as any other airline (not everyone can fly first class). IMO, they have the best frequent flyer program out of any airline. My husband flies SW evey week from BUF to BWI and earns a free ticket every 2 months. I watch his rapid rewards credits like a hawk!

We flew SW to Oakland a year ago and had a great flight - enjoy your time in Sonoma and SF!

rncheryl-most excellent ! October is my favorite month here ! Congrats on the award tickets as well. Don't worry about the lack of buzz-I'm dreaming of a Yosemite trip that isn't until June of 2007. Until then, I will have to "make do" with Calistoga and Mendocino and a surprise trip from Mr R5.
Oh, poor me.
:)

We mostly fly business, but on the short hops to LA, etc. (we live in SF) we drive across the bay to Oakland and fly out SW.

In terms of the seating (zones, not assigned seats) I can see what TT means. That said, in our experience they have *always* run on time, they are efficient, the leather seats are great, the staff is pleasant, and the price is right!

And rncheryl, congrats! I hope you have a wonderful visit!

mcheryl - Those of us who have spent considerable time searching out those often hard to come by FF tickets know the rush.

Totally share your excitement. Managed to snag 2 FF tickets this week from St. Louis via Dallas to Gatwick. Dates and flight times perfect.

Well done.

Sandy

And profitable...

I had to rescue a friend's child flying out of Asheville to Atlanta to SLC this weekend from the uber-idiots at Delta. We never fly Delta anymore as their planes are dirty, their employees are all angry (with very good reason) and their fares are high. We used to fly out of the Tampa airport and used SW whenever possible. I'll take a good attitude and on-time service anyday.

RNcheryl, I am excited for you about your trip. It sounds fantastic and what a wonderful time of year for that area of the country! It sounds heavenly---

Fodorite018 Aug 7th, 2006 06:10 AM

rncheryl--I am very excited for you! Yes, planning a trip is so much fun, but it gets even better when we are able to work special deals:)

tuscanlifeedit Aug 7th, 2006 06:55 AM

I want to add this: my cousin flys SW a couple of times a week for business, and she adores them. Additionally, through their incredible awards program, she has frequently used her free trips as gift tickets for members of our family. For my DD's wedding, 3 family members came on SW for free, thanks to my dear cousin. Last Easter, she flew me to FL for Easter and a large family gathering. My Southwest flights were great.

It always amazes me when those with great material blessings express disdain for the ways that those with less have to find their pleasures.
