NYC restaurants : unique "funky?" $ 50-$ 75 per person..
Need ideas for Lunch OR dinner.
I am meeting two close friends (middle-aged from mid-west) in NYC first weekend in March. I would like to take them to an "unusual" place for dinner. they tend to shun the usual " fancy tourist" venues and I know my price range knocks out a lot of places !!! I have done several searches on this site and will consult "menupages" A seafood only menu would not work but they are open to most anything else... Any suggestions much appreciated... |
>L'Ecole, the rest. run by the students of the French Culinary institute. Very NY.
http://www.frenchculinary.com/subpages/ecole/ecole.html >Spice Market- Thai/fusion in the meatpacking district >Schiller's - trendy, fun but inexpensive lower eastside. schillersny.com >Artisanal-french brasserie specializes in cheeses. They have a prix fixe $35 dinner. There are a few places with beds, like Duvet and BED where you can dine in bed. "Unusual" but a bit gimmicky for me. |
WD-50 on the Lower East Side.

Great ideas so far--
This couple would head back home to Kansas upon the mention of mclaurie's idea.. I'll save Duet and BED for some other couple.. although it is an "interesting" concept... |
Shopsin's in the west village, on carmine st.
But, don't tell them that I sent you... |
