The Salisbury keeps coming up so I'm leaning toward that. However, I see that Le Parker Meridien (looks like it must be close to the Salisbury) has a rate of $255 per night (not including taxes) which is lower than the Salisbury and pretty low in general for that area. It doesn't get great reviews on tripadvisor though, so I'm wondering if anyone has stayed there. We're hoping to stay around $300 per night.

The Embassy Suites is a great choice for your family, and its usually around $300. You'll have plenty of room, with a bedroom and a front room with sofa sleeper. Best thing-- two TVs so you don't have to watch weird cable with the teens! And an amazing full breakfast buffet included. It's by the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, and Wall Street, though, so you'd need transit to get uptown.

Le Parker Meridien is across the street from the Salisbury. It would depend on the size of the rooms in each place - and the best price, of course.
Definitely go to the Parker for the burgers!!!! Your kids will be delighted. |
Brookside again -- :)
I've stayed at the Parker Meridian. Decent service, great breakfast at Norma's. Lovely lobby. Rooms are nice enough, in a trendy, IKEA-type way. Not sure if the rooms would be large enough for your family, though -- our king room was very small; tiny closet was curtained (rather than a door) and counter space in bath was minimal. I *loved* the location, though, and would stay there again if I could get it for $255 per night. |
I would agree with KTtravel. My daughter and I stayed at the Lucerne last Oct and I'm taking my son back in a couple of weeks and we are staying there again. It is a quiet hotel very close to the museum. There's a nice breakfast place across the street and a wonderful ice cream shop that we were tempted by two nights also across the street. The subway is just down the block which makes it very easy to get to Times Square or other tourist spots without having to stay there. We enjoyed being in the neighborhood and walking around and not being mobbed by the crowds like we were used to in the TS area.

Kathysa, are you comparing apples to apples?
Le Parker Meridian is a much nicer hotel than The Salisbury and some of the upper floors have views of Central Park. However, I would not choose a standard room at Le Parker Meridian over a one bedroom at The Salisbury. If you stay at The Salisbury, you should walk across the street to Le Parker Meridian and have a burger at The Burger Joint. |
