Hi Missy, you'll see everything form blue jeans to gowns. I have found that "smart casual" clothing is always acceptable, no need to drag fancy clothes with you.

This weekend it was a lot of black, young women in black pants/skirts with white shirts and black leather jackets.
High heels with pointy toes.
Guys in shirts, trousers/jeans and leather jackets. It is chilly now in the evenings.

It's true - you'll see anything and everything. Best is to dress for whatever you're doing before or after.

I saw Metamorphoses and Hairspray recently. At both people were quite nicely dressed, even a bit dressed up, like dressier work clothes or even a nice dress and jewelry etc.

I didn't see people who looked as if they hadn't had time to change from casual touring outfits.

And I thought, maybe the audience at these shows is more local and that's why people are dressed up -- the longer-running musicals etc. are the ones with largely tourist audiences.
