pip
from the looks of that reply-I think you should take some of your own advice.

Caroline, don't feel bad, I wear 4 inch stillettos and jeans to the grocery store. I wear 4 inch heels with everything. I guess it is whatever you are accustomed to and feel comfortable with.

Excuse Me Oct 11th, 2002 10:07 AM

Caroline never said anything about wearing stilettos! I assume you are being sarcasticabout wearing four inch stilettos with jeans to the grocery. You should know 3inch heels are pretty standard these days on boots and are thewider heel kind, not stilettos. These high heels are worn with very long jeans that just miss touching the ground and are wide leg. I doubt Caroline was talking about skin tight pants and 4 inch stilettos like a hooker would wear.

Excuse me: I never said I wear skintight jeans to the grocery store. I said I wear jeans; how do you know how they fit? I wear 4 inch stillettos with jeans all the time and don't like tight pants for your information. Furthermore, I was not being sarcastic at all about the 4 inch stillettos. Is your name Caroline now?

xxx Oct 11th, 2002 10:34 AM

And, my boots also have 4 inch stilletto heels.

SueGee Oct 11th, 2002 10:51 AM

Worn the right way, heels look good with blue jeans. My Earl Jeans look great with all kinds of shoes. JMO.

nina Oct 11th, 2002 10:56 AM

And men just love that look. Well, at least my husband does. He buys me these boots with stilleto heels AND skin tight hip hugger jeans so I can look like all the women he sees in the city. "That looks great, I love that look" he says.

Yeah, one small problem, I just can't walk in them!

MikeD Oct 11th, 2002 12:34 PM

Man, you need to chill. I think ladies look cool in pumps and jeans. If your built ok, you can get away with it. You must be big.

Carol Oct 11th, 2002 11:37 PM

Everyone is giving advice on boots and clothes but not enough detail on the earrings and purse. Those of us who don't live near major fashion centers don't even know what a Kate Spade knock-off would look like. Anyway, I too am going to N.Y. Would you all please discuss what sort of earrings are "in" now-studs? small buttons? large buttons? dangles? And what kind of purse would be right for daytime? Thanks.

If you're on a tight budget, check out Target for leather boots.

fashionista Oct 12th, 2002 04:47 AM

Diamond or pearl studs are always in style. You can't go wrong with those. I don't even know what a "button" earring is, but I have a feeling that it is a huge fashion "don't".

Large wire hoops are also back in style, in a big way.

Caroline Oct 12th, 2002 01:24 PM

Actually large wire hoop earrings were THE thing last year but many people (including me) are stil wearing them this year and getting away with it. The in thing this year as far as earrings is long dangly onesnot big, just one chain hanging way down almost to yuor shoulder! all the stars were wearing dressy (diamon versions) of these at the Emmies recently and plain silver and gold chain ones are all the rage for everyday wear. Also as far as jwewlry or accessories in general the "Santa Fe" look is very hot this year. To accompany the great amount of the camel (light tan) color being worn this year, people are wearing tourquoise (you know that bluish colored stone) and tan southwest style jewelry. I just bought a really cute set earlier today. The neclace hangs on a brown leather string and has a big chuncky silver piece as the pendant with a turquoise stone in the middle and then I got earrrings and a bracelet to match. BTW here is how cheap I am about buying trendy stuff like: at this store "The Icing" all jewelery pieces are $5! Today they were having a special, buy 2 pieces get a third free, so I got the necklace earrings and bracelt for $10. No its not good quality but it will probbly be out of style by spring anyway!

xxx Oct 12th, 2002 01:50 PM

It is the "Emmys" not "Emmies".

Annie Oct 12th, 2002 03:48 PM

nina, My husband works in NYC too,and couldn't begin to tell me what the latest fashion trend is for women.Maybe your husband's looking a little too closely?? With him being away on business too,I'd start to be a bit concerned. . .

sstone Oct 12th, 2002 05:15 PM

My husband works in the city also and he can tell me about fashions!
One of the things I love about him! When he sees someone wearing something cool he will often buy it for me as a surprise .I .
Then there are the guys that either look at girls and never see what they are wearing or wish they weren't wearing anything!
Anne, don't sound so smug, you might not have much to brag about.

xxx Oct 12th, 2002 06:05 PM

My husband does the same thing. He knows what he likes on women and will buy it for me as a surprise or ask me to buy it. Ditto on the stillettos with jeans. He loves it.

xx Oct 12th, 2002 06:09 PM

Is that you Sharon? I think the majority of men don't notice, my husband included, but that's not a plus. The odd ones are people like RnR, or Nina's husband, who not only notice, but enjoy talking about it and acting upon it. More power to them...and their wives!

nina Oct 13th, 2002 02:54 PM

Hi! Just back from a soggy weekend in Newport with my husband. Yes Annie, he looks very closely at women, especially me. Doesn't phase me a bit, as he tells me, he's got the best looking wife around, and he loves to buy clothes for me, things I wouldn't buy for myself.

It's worked well for 18 years, I think I would worry if he didn't tell me he saw some great looking women in the city, god knows there are plenty of them. I'm not the jealous type. It's a waste of energy.

x Oct 13th, 2002 03:13 PM

nina-
most men also think that there is nothing so attractive as a confident woman. one who is not worried everytime her "man" looks elsewhere.

nina Oct 13th, 2002 03:35 PM

That would be me x, Hey, we all look, don't we?

As I say to my husband when I go on trips without him, honey, I don't mind if you have girls over, just make sure they clean up after themselves, I don't want any extra housework, and if they can do a little laundry while I'm gone, that's a bonus! ;>
