Unless I'm mistaken, Commander's has a jazz brunch on both Saturday and Sunday. I checked their website, but didn't find any specifics on when the brunch is...only the menu.

The brunch at Commander's sounds interesting can anyone share their experience eating there? Also, what is the dress?

Dress for Commander's Palace is much less formal than it used to be. Though coats are no longer required for men, my husband always wears one - not necessarily a tie, but a coat. I wear pants.

We're in our mid-60s and are comfortable being slightly dressy.

Casual clothes are fine: collared shirts and khakis for men and nice pants or a dress for women. No shorts; no t-shirts.

Saturday seatings for brunch are 11:30, 12, and 12:30. It's a 3 course meal. Your cost is determined by your entree choice, (there are about 10), from around $25 - $35. Beverages not included.

Lunch M - F with seatings from 11:30 - 1:30. It's a 2 course meal from $16 to $22, desserts are ordered a la carte. The martini special is still available with lunch.

Attire is considered dressy casual. As Susan said, collared shirts and slacks for men and complimentary attire for women.

try "herbsainte". i was there with work, the day before the chef won the james beard award.

I had a terrible visit to Herbsaint in which we and our reservation were basicly ignored by a rude hostess for an hour. We left. I sent an email and chef emailed me back personally apologizing and offering me a night on him upon my return to his city. Very upstanding on his part to take the heat and work to resolve my bad impression in whatever way was possible.

I will give Herbsaint another chance, and on my dime, and if I am pleased, I will send his email back to the kitchen.

Commanders is wonderful. You can't go wrong there. Just in case you can't get reservations, MILA at the corner of Common and Barone (in the Sheraton building, I think- it's in a hotel building) was really good as well and slightly less expensive. Their dessert was not as good as the bread pudding souffle at Commanders, but that may have been the best dessert I've ever put in my mouth.

We also liked K-Pauls when we were there in 2006.

I would not eat at Galatoire's again if you paid me.
