What a scare! I’m glad it went the way it did. Some people do get tours in a squad car but they don’t usually get dropped off at home. :)
With situations like that it can work out better to grab a cop on the street. If you call 911 and do get a “wait 24 hours” type of response that’s exactly what you should do. Enjoy your time here-I’m glad the weather has improved since the weekend. |
Patrick...so glad that it worked out.
Don't know if you're looking for any new restaurant recommendations but one comes to mind for a nice meal out on the west side. Dovetail 103 West 77th Street | http://www.dovetailnyc.com/pdfs/Dovetail.DinnerMenu.pdf It opened last December and I went here for my birthday this year. It's been the year's dining highlight so far. |
NeoPatrick, I've often thought to say this after reading the many posts of your travels with Lee: You deserve a gold star and a big hug for continuing to provide him the joie de vivre that travel offers. You may not think what you're doing is particularly special because you love Lee and you love to travel, but I know how difficult this is and how heavy the weight of responsibility can feel. In the spirit of your current adventure, I'm awarding you a Tony for special achievement.

Patrick, more than once I have found you to be a boorish pompous jerk who has an unnatural obsession to always be right even when you are not - twisiting and bending words to your benefit.
Today, however, you reminded me of just how wonderful kind and loyal and caring partner you are. Not only have you shown strength and courage as you witness day to day the loss of the love of your life, but you continue to share and embrace the joy of travel. You manage to live outside your comfort zone to continue the journey of Patrick and Lee. The thought of losing Lee for nearly 3 hours in Time Square in inconceivable. You must have a very strong heart. The further revelation that he managed to disappear in Vegas for 13 HOURS????? And the fact that that has not dissuaded you to travel....... Lee is a very very lucky man, although after finding him you surely felt like the luckiest man alive. Sincerely g'lou |
Patrick...
I've been thinking of you and was glad to see your trip report. So glad to hear you found Lee...what an experience. I used your Divine Bar recommendation a couple weeks ago when I was in NYC and LOVED it. Have a great time, looking forward to more of your restaurant and theater recommendations! |
I'm glad it all worked out Patrick. Thank you for sharing your adventures as always. I'm a Chipotle fan myself whether in CA, Las Vegas or NYC. Tasty, fresh and easy on the budget.

PATRICK - YES SCREAMING NOW---I WAS AT IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST THE SAME NIGHT!!!
Oh for god's sake. I am calling you later for your schedule. By the way, we ate at Crif Dogs before the show and then went to Veniero's for canolis. And yikes about Lee! |
Huh, Bugswife? How did I miss you? The theatre is so small! I remember mentioning going in advance and you had mentioned you rarely to The Pearl anymore! And you responded about where to eat that night -- I guess without thinking you were going the same night! Talk about coincidences.
Hey I had thought of going to get a Crif Dog to split before the show, but we weren't at all hungry after our lunch. Speaking of Ernest, Lady Bracknell was OK, but probably my least favorite of the entire cast. |
Differences matter little when it comes the health and welfare of loved ones.
|
What a nightmare! LoveItaly told me about the incident, but this is the first I had read about it. That had to be absolutely horrible. I'm glad he was found safe and sounds. Hugs to both of you and looking forward to meeting you tomorrow.

NeoPatrick
Your apartment sounds wonderful, terrace is a bonus. I'll add to what others have said, felt absolute terror as you began to tell us about Lee wandering off. NYPD first class - so glad that part is over. Enjoying your great details and wish you both well. Sandy |
Patrick, Just read through this post and am so glad Lee is fine :-). You are a gem of a partner IMO! I loved your restaurant reviews. I liked Saigon 48 too for lunch, what a deal! I will be looking forward to more! Have a great time.
|
I always enjoy your trip reports, although this one was also a bit of a heartstopper! I look forward to reading more, without all the extra excitement of course!
|
Oooops Patrick, as usual I read to fast (a bad habit of mine) and was thinking it was an hour. In any case my dear friend thank God Lee was found and all was well although I imagine it took quite some time for your heartbeat to get back to normal.
Hi starrs, no I couldn't have told you as I didn't know about this until I read Patrick's thread today. But as they say all is well that ends well. I sure hope you are having a fun time in NYC. |
Patrick, the place I recommend last year was the Charlotte Moss Townhouse at 20 East 63rd. I won't get to Ankasa until August so I don't have many details, but I think it is more of a traditional "store" than the unusual setting of Charlotte Moss. Let me know if you make it over there!
|
NP: wow, what a start to your report! And it is a great one; thanks.
I wonder if you noticed my very good friend Lenora Nemetz as Miss Mazeppa in Gypsy? She has received very good reviews and I hope you enjoyed her performance. And Crif Dog: my dog neice, Padla, had a Crif Dog everyday until brother moved his office. I wonder if they miss her... |
tuscan, was she the trumpet player? She was good.
Just got back from the show. Patti LuPone was a force of nature! |
Notice Miss Mazeppa? Are you kidding me? Those three old strippers are the highlight of the show. Yes, Mazeppa is the trumpet player, and I really liked Miss Electra -- who seemed so old and couldn't even move -- like her brain had been fried from too much electicity. That one was a different interpretation from the usual.
Margo, that's right about Charlotte Moss. I couldn't remember the name. I'll try to get to Ankasa and will let you know. |
I am so glad it turned out well....these are terrifying incidents to go through.
The rest of your trip sounds wonderful and I am looking forward to the rest of your report AND the GTG tomorrow. Hope to see pictures. The word transcendant comes to mind in your description of the food. And, I'd love to see Patty Lupone in Gypsy; I'm so envious! |
Oh Patrick, what a scary thing to happen. I am so glad Lee is fine. Loved your report of your first days in NYC and will look forward to further posts.
