Need A New U.S. City
Hello
We've been to NY, NJ, orlando, tamp and miami FL, Aspen & Vale Colorado, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Denver and Washington (Capital) What other U.S. Cities would you recommend for the month of Feb? We don't plan to go skiing/snowboarding this year, so it doesn't necessary have to be a snow town. - unless there is something better than aspen we are a couple of 21 + 25 Thanks!! Ashmita |
Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara etc. southern California
|
I'll probably get slammed for this because the weather there in Feb is awful, but how about Chicago? Museums, theater, shopping, nice restaurants, and some good hotels. Just a thought . . .
|
There are sooooo many cities in the US. I guess just list some here?
Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, Charleston (SC), Atlanta, Savannah, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Salt Lake City, LA, San Diego, Seattle And there are so many more. Any of them would be good any time of year. Obviously the northern cities are colder, but you can still survive and enjoy them plenty. I'd suggest either getting out a map and just seeing what strikes your fancy, or else post here with a LOT more information (budget & interests primarily) and people can help narrow it down for you. |
New Orleans!!! But be aware of Mardi Gras dates, in case you want to celebrate it...or avoid it.
|
A lot will depend on what you want to do but here are a few places to consider:
Santa Fe, NM New Orleans, LA San Antonio, TX Boston, MA Charleston, SC |
New Orleans for Mardi Gras first weekend in Feb. Then on Wednesday after Mardi Gras Day, recover with a leisurely drive up to St. Francisville, Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi and stay at a few plantations and B&B's.

Is Hawaii still part of the US?
love roxy |
Late Feb in San Miguel de Allende, MX is VG.

turn_it-on, the last time I checked Hawaii was one of our states! Sure hope it still is. We would not want to lose that beautiful gem! ((R))
|
I second the Salt Lake City suggestion, beautiful place!
|
There is nothing better than Aspen.
I like the Mexico suggestion. That's where we're going--Oaxaca, Puebla, and San Miguel. Another good choice is Puerta Vallarta if you get a hotel that is in town or a convenient walk to town. |
Atlanta in Feb would be ok,you could get very lucky weather wise and enjoy a few 70degree days or highs of 20 and snow/ice! Exploring the North Ga mountains would be less crowds, and a trip up Stone Mountain would offer great, clear views with no haze/smoke!

subash - do you own a dartboard?
|
LOL TripleSec!
subash, Charleston, SC. |
margie - my sister in law just came back from chicago - thanks for the idea but we were thinking of something different.
roxy - we live in st.lucia and i am originally from barbados so hawaii is out of the question! plz we don't really want a beach holiday :) we get it all year round but thanks! We just came back from paris in november - honestly we are looking for something to top that - it really was one of the best holidays ever! Thanks again for all your help |
TripleSec--I have a friend who does use the dart, a blindfold, and a big world map. That is how she and her SIL decide where they are going for 2 weeks every year. She has been to some amazing places. I'm not sure I have the guts to do that. I would probably keep throwing the dart until it came to a place I wanted to go to, lol!

What about Scottsdale AZ and the Sedona area of Arizona? The desert has weather that would not be too hot or too cold. It is a different climate than your used to. It also has great spas and golf if you like that sort of thing!
|
Come on out to the Flathead Valley in beautiful northwest Montana. |
Well now knowing where you're from etc. I do think a month exploring southern California from the Baja peninsula up to maybe the Hearst Castle would be great. Otherwise, pick a few key southern cities to explore. New Orleans, Savannah, Charleston...
