Yes, I saw that when I was looking on Googleearth & wondered what it was like.

Latin Family Bakery (Chilean and Peruvian Restaurant) The Pargo Frito (deep fried whole red snapper) is very good - ask for them to cover it with garlic.

IM Tapas is an intimate restaurant with a small but friendly staff. All of the small plates I have had here have been very good. This is the very best food I have had in Naples.

Pelagos Cafe is a wonderful Mediterranean influenced restaurant owned by an Armenian family. My favorite dish is the chicken livers. The souvlaki is also good.

I have eaten at The Village Pub in Venetian Village which is casual, and serves pub-type food as well as large salads. You can sit outside by the water or inside. I have also eaten at the newly renovated M Waterfront Grill for more upscale dining. All tables now have a view of water and there are many choices on the menu. There is valet parking available and I believe entertainment certain nights of the week. The other restaurant in Venetian Village where I have eaten is the Bayside. There is the downstairs area which is casual and the upstairs for fine dining. I have been downstairs many times but since Chuck, the piano player, left, have not eaten there for awhile. Years ago went to Cloyd's Steak House but was very disappointed in it and have not been back since.

There are lots of choices for dining in Venetian Village including the above mentioned Miramare where I have not eaten yet as I think it was under a different name before. Even though we don't stay near Venetian Village any more, we still go there to eat.

If you are downtown around 3rd Street, Jane's Cafe serves a very nice curry chicken salad for lunch.

Some great recommendations here already. My favorite new "splurge" place is The Strip House at the Naples Grand Resort (formerly the Registry) -- a branch of the New York one and terrific steakhouse, but like all of them -- expensive.

There are some good newer restaurants at The Mercato, just north of Vanderbilt Drive where Whole Foods is-- including Bravo, a sister to Brio at Waterside next to Bricktops, and AZN, a delightful but moderate Asian fusion place. Great before the luxury SilverSpot Cinema which is right above it.

My favorite spot on Fifth has really become Pazzo, which just seems to get better and better.

The BIG restaurant news here is that yesterday there was a horrible propane gas explosion that send a huge fireball through Mangrove Cafe on Fifth. It will be closed for a long time, and will apparently need to be torn town as it literally detached the roof from the walls!

Scotia Jan 11th, 2011 04:55 PM

Oh, yes, Bravo at The Mercato! Went there last year and meal was delicious. There is also a seafood restaurant there but can't remember the name. Food was good but very busy. Must try Pazzo this year.

Here's another vote for Bravo ! Lunched there today for the second time in 2 weeks. The menu offers something for every palate, and the ambience always feels perfect, whatever the occasion.

We're especially fond of the white peach sangria and the mushroom bruschetta app.

Scotia, for seafood you may be thinking of McCormick and Schmick's. We have tried a few times to get in, but as you mention, the place always seems really busy.

Hope you enjoy your Naples visit, DianeC.

Thank you everyone, we are looking forward to our visit & I am sure we will enjoy eating at some of your recommendatios!

I'm going to add Lemonia at the Ritz Golf Resort to the list here. I've heard from some people who've had bad meals there... but every time I go to Naples, it's fantastic!

And NeoPatrick - No! I always enjoyed stopping in a the Mangrove for lunch if I was on Fifth Ave shopping. I'm headed to Naples tomorrow and am glad I heard before getting down there!

We always go to Yabba when we visit - good food, great atmosphere. A couple of years ago we went to a place w/tables on the beach - a believe it was called Turtle Club. You can't beat the setting if the weather is nice!

Keith Jan 19th, 2011 05:31 AM

The Turtle Club has a deck with tables set back from the beach, but within view. They also provides drink service to chairs on the beach. There are little flags which you can put up when you want service.

DianeC Jan 19th, 2011 12:20 PM

That sounds good for lunch, but where is the Turtle club ?

Keith Jan 20th, 2011 05:21 AM

Vanderbilt Beach - just a hundred yards north of the main public access.

DianeC Jan 20th, 2011 09:27 AM

Thank you, it will be good to try as many as we can manage to go to during our holiday.

Just returned from 6 weeks in Naples. Went to many eateries on 5th Ave. Got into the "early birds-deal-on-a-meal" at most, which is the way to go if you want to save a few bucks on any of the usual overpriced fare. The best bang for the buck was BICE, an Italian place at the corner of 5th Ave. and (I think) Third St. Appetizer, entree, dessert and glass of wine for $25. And they didn't skimp on the portions cause it was a "special". Delicioso! And nice atmosphere too.

NeoPatrick Mar 10th, 2011 05:25 AM

donnawho, glad to hear you had a good time at Bice. Rumor is that it is having trouble (along with many other restaurants). They were one of the last holdouts to do specials of any kind and now they are offering many. In fact they are the first and only "fine dining" restaurant in Naples to do restaurant.com certificates.
Many of us locals were turned off by the attitude there (I've reported here about a couple of incidents). But it would be nice to see that place turn around -- their food really is good, although I don't think I'd want to pay full price there for much of anything.
Hope you had a great time in Naples.

We've always liked Campiellos, Chops, and Turtle Club.

Scotia Mar 15th, 2011 05:51 PM

I am looking for a recomendation for a restaurant to take guests before attending the Sugden theatre on 5th Avenue. I am thinking Pazzo or Bellini's. Trulucks looks very expensive. Any thoughts?

NeoPatrick Mar 15th, 2011 07:48 PM

Scotia, as a Sugden Theatre director/actor let me say that my and many of my friends' choice is Pazzo. It's close, they are good about getting you out in time, and it's more "reasonable" than Truluck's. Request Doug when you book and tell him Patrick sent you -- he always takes care of "my" theatre patrons, but he'll roll his eyes and say "are you from Fodors?"
Their giant pork chop with peppers is now my favorite dish. Their veal dishes are great too. But I can't say their pastas are that sensational.
Are you seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels?

Scotia Mar 16th, 2011 04:32 AM

Thank you very much, NeoPatrick. I will call Pazzo today. Yes, I am seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on the 23rd.

NeoPatrick Mar 16th, 2011 05:13 AM

Enjoy your meal and your show. I'll be upstairs at the Sugden, rehearsing Rumors which I'm directing.
