Now I'm wishing we had a longer stay but we'll do what we can. Or we'll come back! \\:D/

DC has so much to see and much of it free which is really nice. You should have nice weather in September.

I haven't had time to look at any of them in detail yet but if there are one or two you would particularly recommend, I'd be glad to know them.
"Don't know how many years it's been since your last DC visit but a walk-by on the pedestrian mall between Lafayette Park and the north side of the WH is once again a warm and friendly experience."
We haven't stayed in DC proper for several years. We usually stay with our friends in Virginia and go into DC for specific things. What's special about this particular walk?

La Cosecha is located in Union Market's neighborhood. I haven't been but have read the buzz on it and it sounds like fun. Haven't visited Union Market since covid.

The Dupont Circle market is big and crowded but I love it. A couple of blocks away at 19th and Q there is a sweet little outdoor flea market. https://www.instagram.com/dupontlittlefleamarket/?hl=en

I agree with yestravel about Eastern Market.

The Georgetown flea market is fun but a posh neighborhood translates to posh prices. Fun to browse.

Your friends live in Virginia, so they probably already know that on second Saturday's the Del Ray neighborhood (adjacent to Old Town Alex) has a vintage/flea market. It runs concurrent with the weekly grower's market and often some of the shops and galleries have bits & pieces on the sidewalk available for a look. Lots of good places to grab a bite, a coffee or a treat.

Regarding the pedestrian mall in front of the WH, it resembled a blockade & an armed encampment during the last administration. There were more people with guns than passers by and eventually it was closed to everyone. If you witnessed that, it's worth a return visit to see that it has again become a place for everyone to enjoy. Sorry, it was probably more political than allowed to have mentioned it.

Definitely worth a walk by is worthwhile. Plus nice view of the WH

I need more days. :-(
I will pack in as much of this as I can! Who needs to sleep, right?
Thanks, all, for this great info!
