we were looking at these two primarily because of a package deal that made them a steal for their hotel rating. if i had it my way, we'd be staying at the venetian or at paris, but c'est la vie...

You will be happy at the MGM and you won't break the bank.

happytrails, did you see the note above?

happytrailstoyou Feb 9th, 2007 05:31 PM

Starrsville,

No, I didn't know that.
I hope Fodor's wasn't too hard on me.
Which guidebook? In what context.

I'm trying to remember. I knew last night. I was in Barnes and Noble checking out a couple of guidebooks. I think it may have been the Pacific NW guidebook. Maybe a Seattle comment? Would that make sense?

The quotes from Fodors Forums are the opening feature of each chapter.

If it wasn't Seattle, then that quote was lcuy.

Thanks. That's fun to know. I'll investigate the next time I'm at B&N. HTTY

One very last thing...on my above post, I did not see that jakes girl had already made the decision to go w/MGM. If I had seen that, I would have kept any further thoughts to myself. I think it is great to give opinions while the decision process is going on, but once someone has made up their mind, they have a right to feel good about their choice. Have fun, jakes girl!!

MGM will be fine. :-)

I would take MGM over Luxor any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Luxor is fun for a short visit but too dark and kinda dull, in my book, for a long stay. I think MGM offers a more enjoyable atmosphere, more fun, and a superior location.

Hi all,

Again, thanks for all the input. I think we'll have a good time at the MGM. That said, socialworker: don't worry about your comments. And being that your first thread was the very first received after I opened this post, my mind was not yet made up when you left your somewhat "controversial" comment. Really, don't worry about it. No harm done. Opinions are opinions---everyone has one and I appreciate them in any form. Otherwise, why would I ask for them??? :)

Starrsville, Thanks for alerting me. I found the quotation in the NW Fodor's guidebook. It was an edited version of my comment that if Chinook Pass opens on what promises to be a clear day, we spend the night in Yakima and get up early to drive to Sunrise before the crowds show up. If you hadn't told me, I never would have known. Thanks again, Happy Trails to You
