I read somewhere that there is a light rail project in the works for Honolulu...what's the status on that?

A month or two in Hawaii is high on our list for when we retire (right now it's too far away for a two-week holiday), so I enjoy reading these threads and trip reports. Lots of great nuggets of information I've been filing away.

woo hoo!! - just booked our flights for our Feb-March trip to the Big Island - the flights I wanted were finally upgradable to first class with miles. Still $$$$$$$!!! But sometimes you just gotta treat yourself.

And only 16--count them--16 weeks til we land in Kona for a short vacation before Thanksgiving. We are sooooo lucky.

alas, not until February 2015 when I go for another birthday celebration with my sis. We were born on the same day 1 yr apart. She goes to Hawaii every other year for at least a month around birthday time and in 2015 she will be there 6 weeks. I, on the other hand, will be there only 1 week but that is okay with me. so let me see that would be about 194 days :)

DH & I are taking back our island! My brother & K will not be joining us this trip. We haven't been to our island, alone, since 2012!

The tale of two siblings part III will have to wait until 2016 when will celebrate our return, together, and DH & K's double bday. It will be K's 30th and DH's 35th!
