Hi Beckytx:
I understand the Cabana Rooms at The National are quite nice. Are they large..or is their appeal the balcony and the view of the pool? I understand they are in the newer wing? How was The National's restaurant? The last time I was there it was called The Oval Room..I think it is now Tamara?? Can you recommend some good restaurants within walking distance? Please advise. Thanks |
Glad I checked back in on this thread - lots of good info. Thanks. As for hotel, I am at the Sheraton FLL airport hotel - that's just where my work put me.

I believe the appeal of cabana rooms at National are that they are newly refurbished, have pool views (we could see ocean even), and don't have to deal with the elevators in the tower. I do not know about size comparison though. Tamara was always pretty dead for dinner, but they had a nice breakfast buffet, or a la carte service on patio. You will have no trouble finding many restaurants in walking distance, though! The ones I tried and would recommend are:
Dinner Blue Door at Delano $$$ Barton G $$$(took taxi) Tapas & Tinto on Espanola $ Breakfast Cafe des Artistes - good specials, healthy options Cafe de Provence - more of take-out/counter place, also good for grabbing a beach picnic lunch Jerry's NY Deli - touristy but tasty large portions Lunch Van Dyke Cafe on Lincoln Road National pool bar - excellent cobb salad |
