Well, since you visit us quite a bit, have you considered buying a place of your own?
Anyone stayed at the Wyndham Fairfield Mountains resort?
Yes I have. We had a very pleasant stay on the Bald Mountain Golf Course in a three bedroom condo. Fairfield Resorts is also known as Rumbling Bald Resort. There are two championship golf courses, pools, fishing on the lake, restaurants, etc. There are some very nice houses for rent in the well. That is another option.

We'll likely retire over that way but more likely a little farther north. We were there right before school started & it was brutally hot. I'll need a little higher elevation. + I'm probably a good 15 (my wife says 20) years away from that...
Retire? What does that mean, LOL! It has been hot everywhere this past summer. I love the slow pace, friendly people, and recreation of Lake Lure. Rutherford County's motto is "Small Town Friendly" See ya in 20 years, you'll be back...
I'll be back this Spring, but not ever as a permanent resident. By that time I'll need to be even further out to avoid the tourist hordes...
What's happening w/the Pools or Springs or whatever they are called ? I heard someone purchased that property.
The Bottomless Pools has been owned by the Powers family for many years. Martha Jane Powers was the previous owner and she died about 3 years ago. It is still in her name, so I have no idea what is going to happen to the property. The pools have been closed since her death and still is. It is probably in some family trust account or something. She owned alot of lakefront property and she gave some of it to family and some to the local community college. The community college sold their part and it is now Blue Heron. I'll let ya know if anything happens with the pools.
Probably a hotel because it will be a last minute trip for a few days this spring.
I had heard someone had bought (or was trying to buy) them & they were going to try to link it up w/the Chimney Rock Park as well as with the B & B on the other side so it would all be 'attached' so to speak.
Well, the state did purchase Chimney Rock and a lot of the surrounded vacant land. It is part of the new Hickory Nut Gorge State Park. That would be great if the state acquired the Bottomless Pools and put in conservation as well. You have got my curiosity up, I'll ask around.
Please let me know what you find out.
I believe the State is still trying to purchase the Bottomless Pools as well. It has not been settled, I'll let you know when it does finally happened. Are you planning a trip here this summer?
We'll probably be over right before school starts. Just got back from the beach.
& thx for the update
How was your trip? Did you make it to Lake Lure?
We've been over there a couple of times. I actually had a job interview in Hendersonville a few weeks ago. Wouldn't be bad to just move out that way.
Well, I am the gal to help you with the move! Shoot me an email and well talk. [email protected]
