Kaua`i GTG, August 2nd
 

A motley crew assortment of Fodorites is meeting for a GTG at the Happy Talk Lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort at 5:30 on August 2nd. Look for a balloon flying from a table. That will be us!

To all who are attending, be _sure_ to liberally apply mosquito repellant before arriving. If the breezes are blowing, we'll be fine -- but if the wind is still, the mosquitoes will consider all of _us_ their dinner buffet.

We'll be there by 5PM to get a good table for da gang, so feel free to come early if you want. See you there!

Alooooooooooha! Woulda logged on earlier, but had to do my radio show first...

What fun we had at HBR last night -- and mahalo nui loa (thank you _very_ much) to the Fodorite menehune (little worker) who gifted our table with drinks and pupus anonymously!!! :-*

Our table (with balloon flying high) included iamq (aka, Billy Boy) and friend, Rich and DW, me 'n Bob -- and a non-Fodor couple who took advantage of our 2 extra chairs and wanted to share our fun. 8-)

We were all there early enough to have plenny time to chat (we truly were just friends who hadn't met before!). Rich and DW are from Pennsylvania, but the rest of us came to Kaua`i by way of the SF Bay area. With that revelation, I suggested we all join hands and sing &quot;Kuumbyah&quot;...but no one wanted to join in. :-D

Beautiful sunset, beautiful music and hula, great drinks, great pupus...and we talked about ALL of you, of course!!

Ah, I can see it in my mind's eye :)

Do they still have the crusted tiger prawns in some sorta ginger sauce ? They had them on a mixed pupu plate and when we said they were favorite the waitress said we could have them by themselves if we wanted !
So much for a quick snack that evening :)

Just got back to rat hole Pennsylvania from 3 glorious weeks on Kauai.

Enjoyed hooking up with you guys on Aug 2 at the Happy Talk. So nice to put a face to a nickname.

I just brought the suitcases in from the car after traveling all night and day, so I will write more after we crash.

Yall could not have done this trip in July???!!! ...when I was there. Kal I thought you were normally in Kauai in Februrary. How long did you go for this time? Hope you all had a great time.

You guys must be serious partiers to be having a GTG on a weeknight! Us Honolulu Fodorites had ours on a Friday so we could nurse our hangovers the rest of the weekend.

Aaahhloohhhhhaaaa everyone! I feel like I haven't been on fodors for weeks... we've been traveling non-stop since Kauai. I'm still working on that trip report w/ photos... soon I'm hoping. One more trip this weekend, and then I'm here for awhile.

So good to hear ya'll had a great time... wish I could've been there too.

((r)) Aloha Kauaiphiles - I also am green with envy for those of you who were able to make the last 2 Kauai GTGs, so I am putting this out there: we will be on Kauai from 2/4-2/18 next year - anyone else gonna be there then (other than AuntieM, of course)? If so, would love to arrange another GTG during that time! ((b))((D)) I'm giving everyone 6 months to think about it and make their travel plans! ;) Mahalo and let me know via this thread. ((r))

Aloha all! I am one crabby apple this morning and reading this has REALLY made me depressed about being back! Rolled in last night...

As others have expressed, thanks to the little ((6))s who sent us the pupus for the GTG. Very thoughtful AND very yummy! GTG are fun! It was non-stop banter. We were such the revelers that two unknown persons joined in on the fun. Who was that man? He looked like someone I've seen on the news programs with the pundits.

I have two or three pictures to post, but it might take a while as I'm still walking around with visions of palm trees swaying, gentle waves lapping, and island breezes in my mind. I'll post them with the rest of my pictures from the trip as soon as I get my okole in gear.

Rich: Yeah, sorry we missed seeing you at Makua (Tunnels) again. I can't remember where we went, but I know it was not as good as Makua! We ended up going back several times. I want those chairs!

Hang in there bruddah/sistah! I'm still on island time, but I can tell you that I did get a picture of a marauding rooster that we ended up nicknaming the Kahuna of Lumahai harrassing beachgoers.
