Jogging in Central Park
Is it safe to jog in Central Park during daylight hours? I'll be spending a weekend in NYC in May and have always wanted to jog in Central Park. Are there more safe parts of the park than others?

I've been running in the park for many many years and never had a problem during the daylight hours. If you stay in an area where there are alot of people, you'll be safe. Lots of people usually run the resevoir or the lower loop. You can try find a group run at the NYRRC. Here's a map:

http://www.nyrrc.org/divisions/train...istances.htm#5

I was there on a Sunday and there were a lot of people running in the park. I would feel perfectly safe running there during the daylight hours, just as long as I saw quite a few others around.

I did notice that the park became more populated the later in the day that it got, so personally I would go anytime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. But, that's just my opinion.

Enjoy it.

Perfectly safe to run anywhere in Central Park during the day. Don't worry about staying near the crowds -- you're always close enough to someone during the daylight hours. The Reservoir/Great Lawn area is my favorite.

Don't believe the hype. The Central Park precinct has the lowest crime rate of all NYC precincts but as always, women should always use common sense and take reasonable precautions.
Central Park is very upscale and safe. You should have no worries, and as soon as you are there you will feel safe.

I have been to Central Park and was very impressed. It is not what people expect. It is very beautiful and very safe. During the day, there lots of people, artists, joggers, skaters...

You'll be fine--wilding season doesn't start until August.

Do believe the facts: Central Park is super safe. I jog alone in the park all the time, and sometimes in the early evening after sundown. I always feel 100% safe. Lots of people around and a high police presence. I read in the Times that the Central Park police response time averages under 2 minutes! Enjoy the Park!!
