starrsville - I did say most likely, not guaranteed. :)

>> Exactly - at least two people, at least one of which is a man.<<

is what you said

and >> not necessarily << is what I said

:-)

Sorry - That was directly in response to nytraveler saying "no, a couple". My first comment was "Wouldn't you guess the chances are greatest that the items were left behind by at least two people, at least one of which was a man?", so with the next post being "no, a couple", I was just reiterating. But you're right, I didn't specify more likely in my second post, because I had just said it. :)

late evening January 1 checked into "very nice" hotel in Rio, Brazil. Lying in bed, looked at the floor next to bed, saw used condom. Beyond gross!!!!!!! Called desk, who sent jumpsuit workman with plastic glove. Changed room!!!!, since hotel fulled booked was moved to smaller room. Next day, manager called, apologized, moved us to suite, no charge for first night. Still "GROSS!!!!" I too want to bring my own sheets, pillows, blankets, beds, etc.

Once I did leave similar items in a VERY NICE hotel (and I am female). Special weekend, surprising DH, etc. So special and such a surprise, in fact, I completely forgot I slid them under the edge of the mattress and remembered them about a week later. I am blushing just typing this, and still don't know if I could stay in that hotel again. LoL

I was staying at a Ritz Carleton in a city known for its partying... Came back to my room after it had been turned down for the evening (with a female colleague/friend in tow) and found a lovely, slinky black nightie nicely displayed on the bed. Busted out laughing--I was alone, on a business trip, and I'm more of a boxers-and-T shirt gal!

Thought it was really funny until I went to retrieve an item that I dropped between the bedside table and the bed, only to find the matching thong! Eeeewwww. And this was after I stayed there 3 nights, so housekeeping obviously wasn't vaccuming under the bed.

To top it off, when I shipped some conference materials home to myself, I ended up with a bonus package--some doctor's dirty laundry!

I called to thank the hotel for the lovely items, but explained that they weren't the right size.

They sent me one of those plush robes and a note thanking me for my sense of humor.

Wasn't this out west? Any chance they were gay cowboys?

vickib2 Mar 8th, 2006 09:24 AM

LOL, BayouGal! That's too funny.
I wonder how common it is for housekeeping staff to hang on to something they find, rather than turn it in.

Actually, Curt, I was thinking the opposite.

Curt Mar 8th, 2006 11:02 AM

Oh my god, not that, please say it ain't so....gay cowgirls? Lord have mercy!

starrsville Mar 8th, 2006 11:32 AM

Whatcha got against cowgirls? I would say more in that sentence but will respect this forum :-)

In the late 70's I found a stash of drugs in a phone book at a Dallas motel. Back then motels were a bit different than now.
In fact, it is amazing how much the lodging industry has changed in the last 3 decades.

LAST WEEK in Miami Beach we were at a hotel with a group and one of the girls I work with felt something between the sheets in the middle of the night.
It was a pair of mens boxer shorts.
It was pretty safe to assume that the linens were not changed.
At the same hotel I found hair in my bed. And we paid 239.00 a night for this!
