Is Sawgrass Mills Really That Great??

Is Sawgrass Mills Mall in Miami really that great??

Patrick Mar 1st, 2005 07:07 AM

I've never heard of the place, but there is a huge Sawgrass Mills mall outside Ft. Lauderdale -- to the west. I suspect that is the one you are talking about.
If you like outlets, it would be hard to beat. Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, and others have major outlets there as well as all the usuals and a lot of others. It is gigantic. There are also some major restaurants there including a Wolfgang Puck's, Cheesecake Factory, and RainForest Cafe.

If you're looking for a high-end shopping experience, hit Bal Harbour Shops in Miami Beach. For an outlet mall trip, I suppose Sawgrass Mills (indeed outside Ft. Lauderdale) would be great. Nordstrom Rack is always a huge disappointment for me, however-- at least in California, their selection of men's clothing is worse than Mervyn's.

Oh really, well thanks for your help guys!!..Umm..aren't the Bal Harbour shops all Chanel, Gucci etc?? I don't think I need that when I'm on vacation. I could buy that stuff while I'm at home..I want to find some good bargains while on vacation..

Oh, are there any like shops with fake chanel, louis vuitton etc purses?? Like in NY??..Where abouts can I find them??

jlm_mi Mar 1st, 2005 07:34 AM

"Fake" designer bags are illegal, FYI. You can find legit knockoffs at stores like Target though. ;)

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 07:40 AM

I know, I know..BUUT so many people have them...and theyre all over the streets of NY..so why not..

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 08:04 AM

Is it really true that those fake purses fund terrorism or something?:S:S

buckeyemom Mar 1st, 2005 08:12 AM

Joanna-Yes, they fund terrorism among other things.

You know what, I think that all of this nonsense is being said out there because Chanel, Gucci, Prada, and all of those other expensive brands are getting robbed and so theyre trying to scare everyone by saying that this all funds terrorism.

Joanna- the Swap Shop in Ft. Lauderdale might be what you are looking for:

It is not that far away from Sawgrass Mills so you could probably do both in one full day of power shopping......

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 08:27 AM

OoOh, thanks Larry.

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 08:46 AM

Isn't that place really dirty though?... And I think its too much of a known place to be selling counterfeit items..

Larry1 Mar 1st, 2005 09:30 AM

Well, I guess by some people's stndards its "really dirty". Certainly it isn't as antiseptic as a normal mall is. But you said you are looking for bargains- and that screams Swap Shop.

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 09:31 AM

okay, i can understand that, but wont such a known place not sell big counterfeit items like fake louis vuittons bags and such??

Anonymous Mar 1st, 2005 09:50 AM

Sure, it's a "known place" but the vendors are flea market styel and the turnover/anonymity can be quite a protection. If a vendor gets caught, the venue is not usually held liable unless their cooperation/knowledge can be proven.

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 10:08 AM

Oh ok thanks:)

We weren't at all impressed with Sawgrass Mills. We have an outlet complex like that near Phila called Franklin Mills. A lot of the stores are NOT outlets, even if they say they are. I found Levis clothes for my sons when they were younger cheaper at Ross and Marshalls than I did at the Levis "outlet".

If you like huge malls swarming with people, you'll love it.

Intrepid1 Mar 1st, 2005 11:26 AM

Somehow I suspect buying oil from Saudi Arabia has funded a lot more terrorism than buying those ugly bags.

joanna_00 Mar 1st, 2005 11:27 AM

hahaa

My wife drags me to saw grass everytime we go to florida. It is so large. I usually sit on the benches outside the stores while she shops. There are alot of stores there and occasionally you can get a good bargain.
