More preaching and judgmental stuff. Why can't you just stick to answering the question asked. Mobody said ANYTHING about partying until 2am and sleeping until noon. And why do you assume that because someone expresses an interest in having some fun at night they have no interest in sunrises, and waterfalls and snorkelling. The ones who should lighten up are those who are sensitive about an old expression like "newly weds and nearly deads". Does the mention of death scare you? I obviously came to the wrong place for information.

But nancy, the really annoying thing is that the 18-25 yr olds can party till 2am and still get up at 6am to go do all those other things. It's the older crowd, and I include myself here, who would be sleeping till noon!

I actually kind of agree with you on your generalization of Maui. The two times I've been there (I'm 31 and have been married for less than 2 years) I noticed a lot of A) young families with kids, B) newlyweds honeymooning and C) AARP crowd of 55+. When I think of Maui, I think of those demographics with of course, a few exceptions here and there.

Of course, that's not to say that's good or bad. It just is. I think it's actually good that people can escape some of the fast-paced, younger, nightclub crowd in Waikiki and travel to different-paced islands in Hawaii. That's what makes Hawaii in general such a great vacation spot for a variety of people.

I, for one, am probably done with Maui for a while and if we return to Hawaii soon, I'd like to try the other islands.

On a final note: I have lived in So.Cal. since I was 13, and my husband is a native Californian. I use the term "Cali" a lot in my postings on boards and never thought twice about it. I've also used it in conversation IRL, too, and no one ever bats an eye.

Izacruisin, to answer your official question, IMO, the answer is NO..it's not "mainly of interest to the older generation who saunter down to the shave ice stand and are in bed by 9pm" Hawaii is a place that is MAINLY of interest to those who want to visit beautiful islands & beaches, with lots of things to do. Maui is a place for people that want to lazily lie on a white sand beach or snorkel. Maui is a place for people who want to sit in a jacuzzi, Lava Flows in hand while gazing at the ocean and sharing their adventures with fellow travelers. Maui is a place for people that want to go on a day long drive through winding one way roads and then go cliff jumping into the venus pool, hike a couple miles to a 400ft waterfall, drive to the top of a volcano in the clouds or even visit a winery. I'm sure you see what I'm getting at now...it's of interest to any variety of age, sex, race, etc...depending on what interests them.

You're getting the replies you are, Iza, because your post was offensive - particularly to those who love Maui. I can certainly understand why people over 50 do not like to be classified as "nearly dead". Not so funny when you see death every day. Perhaps you did post in the wrong place.
