Unfortunately, El Portal was full for the mid-June dates I checked. And as I mentioned, Fish Camp is not as ideal as El Portal. But if it's a question of not going at all, I'd still do it.

Did you check Cedar Lodge? It isn't as nice as Yosemite View Lodge but might have availability

You should call not just rely on the online info. It even says that on both web sites.

Since I am not the traveler, I had to guess what mid-June dates. I did a couple of quick checks. When there's lots of availability, those properties will turn up on the search engines. You are correct in that there may be a very few rooms left if you call directly.

Despite the normal gloom and doom on Fodors, there are presently only 3 days in June when "Half Dome Village" does not show availablity. I recommend holding something now, reading the cancel policy and then keep looking or calling. I assume as you are in the military that tent cabins are okay.
