Be careful coming back May-June.. it is graduation time and the hotels have been booked for months with proud relatives as are the restaurants.

We LOVE Boston too!!! We went for a weekend Aug 4th thru 8th and as usual had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Hyatt Downtown, which is very close to the Downtown Crossing by Filene's. Don't recall seeing Chacarero. Will have to try it next time.
Thanks for the report! :D

I already made my reservation for the Morrison House B&B for June 14-28! (They were completely booked the week before due to graduation) - June 12 and 13 I will be staying (hopefully) at the Linden Tree in Rockport (I will be making a reservation as soon as they email me back)

I am glad everyone enjoyed my trip report. I have gotten some very good feedback. - I feel that I need to mention though, that I was just trying to list some highlights off the top of my head! I didn't write down EVERY place I was ... or for that matter, if something didn't make my list, it didn't mean I didn't enjoy it!

LOL! I may have just forgotten about it (my life is crazy right now and I am having trouble remembering what I did yesterday) The MIT museum should have been on my list! It was a really cool museum. - I had to choose between the MIT museum and the Science museum because I only had time for 1. I will definitely go to the Science museum next time (and probably back too MIT too)

I am really looking forward to my return and getting to do a lot of things I missed last time!!

:))

I just stumbled upon this thread and think it's fantastic you are raving so much about Chacarero!!!
That place has lines around the corner for hours in the summer, it's insane!
I don't eat meat, but I can't tell you how many times I've waited in that line with friends/coworkers, or had a few people run over there to grab a bunch of sandwiches for a meeting.
I am shocked they have a website too!

Glad you enjoyed Boston, hope you come back soon =)

Glad you loved Boston ! A bit south in the burbs, but we are in town for work several times a week and also pleasure at least 3-5 x a month and lived there as child and back to college in Boston. Love to hear that people enjoyed being here and liking Mike's and some of "our places." Look up the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, if in June you come and weather is nice it's a delightful place to see- gorgeous courtyard, nice lunch, museum itself is not my absolute favortie collection, but the house is worth a walk through even if it isn't - you can walk from MFA. Did you find the good restaurants in Davis Sq? and Jimmy Tingle off broadway theater that sometimes has great comedy shows (esp if Tingle in on); also freedom trail; and State House has some beautiful features inside; you could easily stay another week in Boston and not see everytrhing, but pereson was right - depending on your interests, the Concord/Lincoln area is magnificent (maybe rent a car for one day and drive rte 2 a bit?) - although, you might want to continue right out to N. Adams/ western mass which is another trip in itself - I don't particularly love Salem/witch thing but if you like ethat type of thing we were there this summer and they've done a lovely job with new visitor ctr/ museums, and places to eat - huge improvements up there in past years and my out of town guests did love it. And another excursion is south of Boston/ Cape/ islands - oh, that's another trip for sure ! and yes, like Charlotte, we now have rocking chairs popping up in different spots in Logan.....the better to nap in during a delay :)

GREAT trip report--
I too love Boston--mainly for the history and the art.. I am still amazed
that their public library has a mural by John Singer Sargent.
The "T' system is so easy to get around town AND I actually had people give me their seats several times (the one advantage of having gray hair)
i stayed at a type of guesthouse-hotel
John Jeffries House right at the Mass Gen. T stop. So convenient ,adjacent to the river and the riverside walkway...However, I did not have the baked goods you described--just juice, coffee, bagels and yogurt. I travel alone a lot and felt I received personal service from the employees..they suggested I leave my cell phone # and general plan for the day in case i had some unplanned event and did not return by dark....
I was there in April and managed to avoid bad weather...
Going back again as soon as I accumulate enough airline miles...

WOW! I was gone for a few days and didn't know this thread was STILL growing!! - I am taking notes and I am very excited about returning in June. (By the way, I am getting desperate for a Chacarero. I did a Google search for a recipe today and I actually found a few things. Don't know if it will be as good as they make it there in Boston (I'm sure that in Chile, everyone has their own unique recipe), but I'm going to give it a try.

:)
