I found my Fodor's pin today!

How many of you old-timers still have the blue pin?

Patrick Sep 5th, 2005 02:24 PM

I'm hurt. I've been a regular here for a long time and never got a pin.

(But in fairness I think I was in Europe the whole time that pin distribution thing was going on.)

HowardR, I think a really great fodorite would send his original pin to OWJ for the Atlanta GTG...then the winner of the pin could pass it on to the next GTG, don't ya think?

Betsy Sep 5th, 2005 02:32 PM

I do! I do! And I'm not about to send it to Atlanta or anywhere else :-)

iceeu2 Sep 5th, 2005 02:35 PM

My dear Betsy,,,,you must not live in the south...you know we would send it back.

Bless your heart!

Betsy Sep 5th, 2005 02:45 PM

Honey Chile, I grew up in southwestern Virginia, moved to Richmond for graduate studies and worked in NOVA for several years prior to moving to CA. But I'm still not sending my beloved pin to Atlanta!

MelissaHI Sep 5th, 2005 02:53 PM

I have mine! To be honest, though, I don't think I was logged on until after the pin was distributed. Later after I met kalena, I found out about it. Even later still, when I met the famous Elvira and Elberko in Paris, Elberko confessed that she had gotten two pins by mistake....and sent me her extra. That pin means more to me than if fodors had sent me one, because every time I bring it out I think of elberko, her family, and the crepes & cider we enjoyed in Paris.

Betsy Sep 5th, 2005 03:01 PM

...and every time I take mine out I think of the fun we had at the time the pins were offered, including the thin envelope fiasco.

elberko Sep 5th, 2005 03:21 PM

I still have my (remaining) pin. I wore it in NYC in June, but didn't notice anybody recognizing it.

MelissaHI, I'm so glad you remember that evening as fondly as I do!

Believe me, Liz, I keep meaning to go back to the miniature alcohol emporium for kicks! Seriously, I think of you always--I take my pin with me traveling, which is about 4x per year. Thank you!!!!!

elberko Sep 5th, 2005 03:39 PM

Melissa, we looked for that shop when we were in Paris in February without luck-I think it's gone... We did go to the crepe place again, though.

iceeu2 Sep 5th, 2005 04:12 PM

so MelissaHI and elberko...how bout sending a pin to Atlanta??? It's the hospitable thing to do since Betsy thinks she a southerner..not!

LoveItaly Sep 5th, 2005 04:15 PM

Hi iceeu2, I know enough about Southerns to be aware when the say "bless your heart", LOL.

Sure wish I could be at your Atlanta GTG! Maybe the next time...hope there is a next time. Take care.

iceeu2 Sep 5th, 2005 05:01 PM

LOL, LoveItaly...bless your heart is kinda like "do tell"!! Cept we southern women aren't allowed to say that word!!

LuvMaine Sep 5th, 2005 05:17 PM

I do. I was posting under a different name back then...

OldSouthernBelle Sep 5th, 2005 05:39 PM

I'm trying for the third time to post this:

Icee: I believe you could have more pins made for us! Who instigated the 'old' pins? What about it icee?

I misplaced mine somewhere around the house and haven't seen it for a couple of years. Hopefully, someday it will turn up like your's Howard.

HowardR Sep 5th, 2005 06:48 PM

Yes, Dan, mine turned up in a place where I would have never looked for it! And, how it got there, I'll never know!
So, Dan, have faith.
