How well do you know your states?
See how all you formidable travelers do with this test. I've taken it twice...first time with a score of 88% and average error of 14 miles, 2nd time with a 92% but average error of 15 miles. This little bit of fluff is an interesting and quick diversion in your day, and guess what--there ARE NO RED NOR BLUE STATES!! LOL

That was fun. I had a 97% with 4 mile average error and it took 144 seconds. I have always been a geography nerd and I guess it shows now, eh?
|
96% 3 mile avg 329 secs |
First time 92% accuracy with average error 15 miles. Fun!
|
Thanks for the link, OO.
92% first time, but average 20 miles off. I missed Missouri and Maryland bigtime! |
Fun!
96% 12 miles 336 But my daughter was trying to help :) |
I pride myself on US geography and I got a 88% 14 miles and 274 seconds. Not bad but I wasn't rushing.
|
90% with an average error of 14 miles. I think I really sunk myself with Colorado. It was one of the first states I got in the game and I didn't have any reference points - I was off by almost 400 miles - oops!
|
90% accuracy error 15 miles.
|
This was such fun for me - a geography buff - even though I dropped Massachusetts when my mouse ran off the pad!! Only had trouble with Utah. I sent it to my all kids who are geography challenged. Can't wait to hear what they say. Thanks for the diversion. :-)
|
I dropped two states with my mouse. Do they penalize you for that?
I thought Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, and California were the hardest states to place.:-D |
88%, 17 mile error, 169 seconds. But I would have done better if North Dakota wasn't my first state. I had some of the state right, but a lot in Montana.
Fun, I'll try it again later to see if I 'improve'. |
You guys are great! The order you get the states in really does make a difference in your score of course. Then too, the first time I did it I didn't realize right away that they were telling me WHAT state I had. My first was one of those ubiquitous little rectangles so not only was I trying to figure out what it was, but where to put it. :)
Glad to see there are others who got a kick out of this. I was afraid I was going to be ground under someone's heel for introducing pap! |
90% and 20 mile error for me. Not as good as some of you guys but not bad considering I'm from the UK.
Delaware was my big error. Not sure why I didn't really know roughly where that one was. |
Great, I lost to a Brit. Now I feel dumb.
|
94%, 9 miles, 305 sec. I now have gotta beat myself.
|
That was SO neat! I won't tell you what my score was - I'm an ignorant Canadian - but you might get a laugh out of the fact that my average error was 107 miles. Hmmm... looks like I need to do a little homework. :)
|
92% 24 miles 289 secs--I kept dropping them as I was trying to drag them over to their places. That's what happens when you use a laptop!!!
|
I'd love to see one for Europe or much more difficult for me-- Africa!!
|
Don't feel bad, Meesthare. I'd hate to think what I'd score in a similar game for Canada, with, what, only 10 provinces and two territories?
|
I've 'improved' to best score 92%, 9 mile error in 154 seconds.
First time back, I had to place Oklahoma first, worse than my first go round. Had a score of 94%, 17 mile error in 183 seconds for putting Oklahoma in Kansas and Arkansas. I think I would do okay with Canadian prov/terr, but would fail miserably for states of Mexico. |
96%, 3 miles, 206 sec..LOVE geography !
|
I despair as well, Meesthere.
I have a splint on the index finger of my mouse hand- talk about the "new" America!! Those poor states were just slippin' and slidin'out into the ocean and Canada and the plains... Oh,it sure was fun anyway, OO! R5 |
Took four tries and a couple lucky guesses to score 100%.
|
100%, O miles, 1111 seconds. I may have an advantage because I have produced maps and graphic designs for many years. Rhode Island and other small states are the hardest to place because the curser nearly covers up the whole state.
|
NJ was the very last - small wonder - when I was a child in the late 40's Southern NJ was still a nice place to live - many working farms, great local produce and no subdivisions between Haddonfield and Brigantine.

90% with 17 mi error. I missed 2 state by a wide margin but 3 others by a small # and then the other 45 were perfect. It was fun!
|
94% 6 miles 277 seconds.
Kansas was my first state. I agonized quite a while where to put it. |
Fun! I was at 86% and average error of 21 miles. Will need to try that again.
|
Way to go, jor!
They gave me Rhode Island FIRST. |
88% and I was so sure I knew where everything went :(
Kentucky got me! |
Aren't we all productive today? I've done it four times and only once beaten my original score. Rats!
|
This was fun..I did better than I thought
88% 31 miles :) |
It won't let me in without installing some micromedia program. For me as a foreigner probably 50% would be great :)
|
SAB, here is Europe: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/European_Geography.htm
|
Score of 90% avg. error of 22 miles in 192 seconds. Lots of fun!
|
A fun diversion. 92% 9mi 511 sec.
First few hurt me big time... trying to figure out just how far east/west Montana is with no other states yet on the board to guage by, and it got easier & easier as the map filled in. It could be made a LOT tougher if we had to place each state on an empty US without the relationship to other states so apparent. Guess I'll try again. Thanks for the link, OO. |
second try:
98% 1 mile avg error 318 secs |
|
That was fun! On my first try I got 80% percent right with an average error of around 30 miles.
