The Affinia Surrey has rooms with 2Q beds available at 315.00 per night.
I have never been to this one though... THE SURREY 20 EAST 76TH STREET NEW YORK NY 10021 |

Thanks! I did not realize the AAA rate would forego the prepayment. Always something new to learn. I've eliminated the Belvedere, the London, the Hilton. I sure appreciate everyone's help in narrowing down the choices. I'll be back to report.

Our family of four was happy at Embassy Suites last Fall. With grown 'kids' it helps for them to have the front room in the suite with their own TV. We got a very good rate through Expedia. Better than any other suites at the time.

We go to NYC every summer. We have stayed at the Double Tree Suites Times Square five years in a row now. We usually have two adults and two teenagers with us. The kids especially like times square because something is always going on. The financial district is nice and we have stayed there sans kids, I think teenagers would be bored there. The Doubletree TS has one bedroom and you can get it with a king bed or two queens, it also has a couch that makes into a bed in the other room. There is a tv in each room, fridge and microwave. There is a small food store on the corner for food or munchies if you need it. You can easily walk to the Broadway shows, no need for a taxi or subway ride. It is very safe at night.
I have also stayed at the Marriott Marquis the room was somewhat small for two of us, I can't imagine four people in one room. But the room was nice. There is so much to do in NYC that's why we go every summer. have a great trip! |
I think the Affinia Dumont also has some 1 bedrooms with 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a queen sofabed in the living room. Check Affinia prices on quikbook.com too. Sometimes they're better than on the hotel website. The Surrey is uptown near the museums.

TC, I hope you'll write that info about the Blakely on a review on tripadvisor.

I have posted on TripAdvisor. I do hope the hotel updates the air-con, as I really love the location and staff. The place just needs a minor update -- or a reduction in pricing.

We stayed at the Affinia 50 and were very comfortable. The doorman is the best. He gave us all kinds of help. I posted an update earlier, but for some reason I haven't seen it appear. I appreciate all the good advice. We had a wonderful time and there is no reason to be afraid of NYC.

We just stayed at the Doubletree Suites Times Square. We found it to be a really nice hotel in an absolutely great location. The separate living room is great and the hotel seemed to be newly renovated. Everything bright, clean and *lots* of elevators!
