Macademia Nut pancakes -- Ono Family Restaurant, Kapa`a
Woody (real one, not a model) -- the northshore has about 4 of these, but they're the new PT Cruiser version
Wedding dress -- Aloha Fashions, next to McDonald's in Lihu`e
Wedding ceremony -- any big hotel, any Saturday
PoPo's cookies -- tiny shopping center in Kapa`a, next to Aloha Diner
Fruit stand on the honor system -- got one in Hanalei, one in Kilauea, one in Ha`ena...
Monk seal -- if any beach has one, it'll probably be on the south side
Fire knife dancer -- lu`au at Smith's Tropical or at Aloha Beach Resort
Jelly fish -- luckily, we don't get them in hoardes, and they're only on the south shores
Loco moco -- TipTop Cafe in Lihu`e or Village Snack Shop in Hanalei

Almost every time we have been to Kauai we have seen a Monk Seal basking in the sun on Poipu Beach. Usually right near the life guard tower. They may not be there in the summer though. We go in Feb/Mar.

Thanks for the scavenger hunt idea, Ashley24. We're going to Oahu, BI and Maui just after Christmas with 2 kids, ages 17 and 13. I think they'll love this game, especially if they can win something. The 2 tend not to get along so maybe having them work together on this will keep the constant bickering to a minimum. Did you give them the list before you left so they could find out what all these items are and what they look like? Did they have to have an independent observer corroborate their sighting, e.g. mom or dad?

We decided to do it as a team, instead of against each other. We gave them the list ahead of time since many of the items on this list they had never heard of, like flowers and animals (Nene goose and passion fruit, for example). If you would like to see a copy of my list, let me know. We assigned points based on degree of difficulty and then divided the total points by two. This was the amount of spending money we gave each of them on the last two days of our trip. It was definately fun for our whole family!

Thanks, Ashley. It would be great to see a copy of your list. You can e-mail me at [email protected] if it's too long to include here. How did you decide on the difficulty? Our family is really big on games and I think they will love this and it will also be educational. My nephew has a photographic memory so I think he'll have the edge on this one.

I was sitting here tonight thinking about my trip in September and thought it might be fun to do a Scavenger Hunt with my cousin on Maui. So I did a search on the net and it led me here :-) We are both going out to celebrate our birthdays since we live 2500 miles apart we are celebrating them late :-) So, I took some of the already listed items everyone has posted, but I would like to know if there is more ideas that adults may enjoy added to the list. This will be the first trip for both of us to Hawaii so any ideas will be a challenge for both of us :-) I want us to have fun and talk to others on the island so I thougth this would be a good way to meet people, ex. "Excuse me can I take your picture since you are wearing a hawaiian shirt and we are on a scavanger hunt".

I think we will do this just for fun, but if we decide we have to have a prize it will probably be a drink or a meal.
