Thx, I'll take a look. I'm thinking there has to be some new restaurants/galleries since I was there last (in Oct.).

Iris recently moved downtown and I had a charming three course lunch for $20. It included the homemade sorbet of the day. This chef is getting a lot of attention, so I thought the $20 lunch was a steal.

I haven't been here personally, but there is a fried chicken place called Willie Mae's that is supposedly the best fried chicken on the planet.

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

They are having some deal in Aug./Sept. where you can get a set lunch for $20 & a set dinner for $34. Many places don't have their menus up yet, but the ones that do, look interesting.

K-Paul's is great. If you eat early, there won't be a line.

Also, the Slave Market(Maspero's) has very good poorboys and muffalattas.

Here's the link to my report including the chef's table (or should I say chef's counter?) information.

And funny about Algiers. I insisted on going and doing my own walking tour I had printed out despite a number of locals looking at me and saying "why?". I ended it less than half completed and agreed with them.

Thx Neo, I had gone through that when you posted it but needed a review. Anyone else ? The time is drawing near.

OK, I'm leaving Friday, last chance...

Green Goddess is a very new and interesting restaurant in the French Quarter.

Looks like an interesting place....I may check it out. Thank you

I wanted to add that Dirty Linen Night is this weekend and highly recommended. The shops on Royal Street will be open and it will be a wonderful time to stroll this lovely, historic area of the French Quarter. Enjoy!

SAnParis2 Aug 7th, 2009 05:00 AM

I am already planning to attend the "Dirty Linen" soiree w/one of my of my friends who owns a gallery on Royal. Also be viewing (not participating, since my red dress is @ the cleaners) the Red Dress Run Sat. I'll provide some sort of report on my return as well.

SAnParis2, throw on a big red hat or scarf - you'll be glad you did. ;-)

I think I have a shirt or something....I'm guessing bad things happen to those not in the appraopriate, ahem, color scheme ?
