September and May are no children months at Kona Village resort on the Big Island. It is a wonderful resort where you stay in thatch-roofes hales, some with their own jacuzzi on the lanai. 3 meals a day are included. To me, this is the most romantic place on earth!

Thanks padams!
I knew there was some kind of reasoning to the mess I was creating and sorry for hijacking your thread scotty! |
We have stayed at Kona Village in May and in September. We have been there about 6 times. They do allow children in May and September but what they do not have are the extensive children to teen programs during those two months. So we see just about 10 or 12 children during our stay.
In addition, the resort is not at full capacity during these months (well definitely not September) so it can be amazingly quiet. We opted not to return this year as they were purchased by a large resort chain and we were unhappy with some of the deposit policies they implemented. If you do go - We recommend the PA area hales. PA1, where we stayed every year is nestled in a small cove. Turtles dry out on the little beach during the day. It is a great location to swim, boogie board or snorkel to breakfast! |
Last I heard, Hotel Hana-Maui, Kona Village etc do allow children year-round, but they charge full adult price for them during the months of May and September. And very few tourists will pay the substantial extra cost for their kids during these two months.
So the end result is the same (few if any kids in those two months) without breaking any discrimination laws. To Scotty, I completely understand your request, and anyone who's spent more than an hour or two at e.g. the Hilton Waikoloa should understand it too. Honeymoons are for romance, not irritation. Try the Mauna Kea resort on the Big Island for an abundance of the former and a definite lack of the latter. |
A direct quote from Hotel Hana-Maui's website:
<<Hotel Hana-Maui will be welcoming adults only from May 1 - 26 and September 1 - 30, 2006>> And they sent an email out in mid-summer touting "Adults Only" in September. |
