HappyAnniversary Scarlett

Here's hoping your night "on the town" is delicious and a Dorothy Parker quote because you are such a fan:

I have no idea what it's like to be a millionaire but I bet I'd be adorable at it.

cigalechanta Nov 5th, 2005 05:59 PM

OH!!! had no idea it was tonight.
Happy anniversary Scarlett. And remember as Dorothy Parker said:
"dont know much about being a millionaire"(nowdays we say billionaire)
but I bet I'd be darling at it." CHEERS!

My gift: another quote: "The first thing I do in the morning is brush my teeth and sharpn my tongue."

Scarlett Nov 5th, 2005 06:37 PM

LOL, Thank you!! What a surprise to see this :D

It is tomorrow , November 6th.
The restaurant is ready for us, my gift has been bought..plans are being made for further adventures...we are happy ((L))

Thank you for the Dorothy Parker quotes :D I love em!

OneWanderingJew Nov 5th, 2005 06:53 PM

No quotes from me, just sending ordinary anniversary wishes to an extraordinary couple!

seetheworld Nov 5th, 2005 06:57 PM

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Scarlett Nov 5th, 2005 06:57 PM

We should keep this Travel related so someone won't get all fussy :)

I traveled from California to NY and met my Yankee.
We have been traveling happily together, since then.
Now our children travel as does Pup.

We are at the moment, planning some new travels.
Where were you when you met your SO and do you travel together as much as possible? :)

seetheworld Nov 5th, 2005 06:58 PM

I made the long trip from New Jersey to New York to meet my husband, LOL. We've been traveling the bumpy road of life ever since :)

seetheworld Nov 5th, 2005 06:59 PM

...together...traveling the bumpy road of life together ever since :D

P_M Nov 5th, 2005 07:02 PM

I raise my glass to Scarlett and Yankee. ((D))

I met DH when my friends Sharon, Angie and I went out for a wild night on the town. Sharon already knew my DH through her BF and she decided to set up DH with Angie. I don't know what Sharon was thinking because Angie was looking for a "college guy" back then, while I was looking for someone over 30. My DH was then 31, so it seems obvious he was a better match for me. Anyway, there was no love connection between Angie and DH, and instead he asked me out. Angie had no hard feelings, and the rest is history.

Love is like quicksilver in the hand. Leave the fingers open and it stays. Clutch it, and it darts away.

Anyone married 200 years :) has learned this one well. Happy Anniversary, Scarlett!

P_M Nov 5th, 2005 07:14 PM

Ohhh....sorry....in the interest of keeping this travel related, DH and I are taking a day trip to San Antonio tomorrow, just for the heck of it. :-)

P_M Nov 5th, 2005 07:16 PM

Hey, OO, what did you think of the "roaming cats in San Antonio" thread?? Wasn't that a hoot?? :-))

Fodorite018 Nov 5th, 2005 07:19 PM

Happy Anniversary to both Scarlett and the Yankee:)

I met DH in Berkley. It was a night out on the town with a large group of friends, and it turned out we each knew everyone except each other. This was a summer break during college. When we returned to school, it was very convenient to start dating...his fraternity was across the street from my sorority:)

razzledazzle Nov 5th, 2005 08:15 PM

Oh dear, Scarlett, Happy 200th !
@};-
We will travel to celebrate our 100th next Oct.
I met Mr R5 a tad after he lived across from my sorority...it was in
a small 10 unit apt. place in Mill Valley,CA.

My landlord had not finished the closet remodel he promised for my then ridiculously (sp?)
huge (and long gone)wardrobe,so new landlord said I could hang my clothes in MrR5's closet
as he wasn't moving in for 2 weeks.

Of course Mr.R5 moved in early, and I came home from work one night to
1/2 my wardrobe decorating my sofa,
dining chairs, etc. AND roses
and a note of apoplogy for any disruption this "mess" may have caused.

The roses and note were NOT from my landlord.
((L))
Have a divine celebration !
R5

Hey Scarlett, add me to the list of fodor's friends wishing you a happy 200th. Hope it's a great celebration.

tondalaya Nov 5th, 2005 08:39 PM

Cheers lady, this I copied from cig, the Parker fan.
Four things I am wiser to know,
Idleness, sorrow, a friend, and a foe.

Scarlett Nov 5th, 2005 08:53 PM

LOL, thank you thank you...

More Dorothy Parker!!

Speaking of that Yankee....
."His voice was intimate as the rustle of sheets."~sigh~

and "Brevity is the soul of lingerie" :D

Meesthare Nov 5th, 2005 09:10 PM

Scarlett - happy anniversary! The date is a very good one because it's the same as my youngest grandson's birthday. He turns 2 on November 6th.

I met my sweetie when he was hired as the professional lead in the [very] amateur choir I sang with in Toronto. Recognized him immediately because I had seen him on stage many times. In our first conversation he told me he was from British Columbia, which I found interesting because I had wanted to live there ever since I first set foot in the place in 1986.

And now, here we are, having travelled all the way across the country, living in Sooke, BC, which is just northwest of Victoria. I keep wondering what I possibly could have done to deserve all this wonderful stuff - must have been in a previous life. :) :) :)

LoveItaly Nov 5th, 2005 09:27 PM

Happy Anniversary dear Scarlett and Yankee! Wishing you many more decades together full of happiness, good health and lots of chocolates and red wine. ((G))

PamSF Nov 5th, 2005 10:08 PM

Met the dear one across the ICU..we knew each other for years before the sparks flew. We've been travelling together for nearly 20 years and just about have the routine down. We still can drive each other round the bend but also make each other laugh to tears.

"Tips for a Happy Marriage..
Get married when you are too young to know better.
Have children right away.
Grow up together..
Pick the right one...( that is the hard part- some poeple have to try a couple of times to get that one right)"

_______________________________________

Boy oh boy do I agree with this one!

We married on my 18th birthday and 23 anniversaries years later we have a 23, 22 and a 16 yr old (he was a bit of a hiccup - my 'baby' hormones went into overdrive) now in our early 40's we have the whole world ahead of us.

It wasn't easy and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone - but for us it worked!

Hope you had a wonderful anniversary Scarlett, best wishes to you and The Yankee.

OneWanderingJew Nov 6th, 2005 05:42 AM

I met OWJ2 on a blinddate that I really, really didn't want to go. I had been on a bazillion and was over the whole concept. The only reason I even went is because my coworker taught across the hall from me was giving me a hard time. She insisted he was a super nice, funny guy who even if I didn't like him, I would have fun with. I did have a great time that night but told a friend on my way home that I'd love to keep him around as a friend--hoping OWJ2 had other nice friends :D

About 2-3wks later was my birthday and OWJ2 came over with a really nice silver bracelet. I was all prepared to have the friend talk that night but put it off. It's 3yrs. and I'm still putting off the friend's talk!

OneWanderingJew Nov 6th, 2005 05:45 AM

Oh--and we've travelled lots in a pretty short period of time. Many trips to NY, to CA, Washington DC, Italy not to mention long weekends to places w/in driving distance.

kopp Nov 6th, 2005 06:11 AM

Best wishes, Scarlett, on your anniversary. Here's to many, many more!

Marianna Nov 6th, 2005 06:25 AM

My husband and I met over 40 years ago when we were both college students attending different colleges in Boston. Last May, we celebrated our 35th anniversary, but we find ways to celebrate simple things all year long. Yesterday, we had an early dinner outside on our porch since it was so lovely here in the Boston area. We toasted the day and felt so lucky to be able to enjoy the beautiful weather together.

As for the travel, we travel as often as we can - usually 3 times a year - a sunny, warm place for the holidays (usually the Caribbean), a sunny, warm place in February or April (Florida, Sante Fe, California, Hawaii, etc), and Europe in July. We have been very fortunate in many ways, but especially to have been able to take our mothers with us on many of our trips.

Thirty-five years and still counting...must be because we both love to travel!

Happy anniversary to you and your husband, Scarlett!

hdm Nov 6th, 2005 06:42 AM

For us, 35 years in December of incredibly happy unwedded bliss! That's the reason for the upcoming trip to NYC. Of course, we've got a ways to go before we reach that 200 mark!

Cheers and happy anniversary, Scarlett!

Cassandra Nov 6th, 2005 07:00 AM

Happy Anniversary, Scarlett!

DH and I each travelled to meet each other, he from Iowa and me from Massachusetts, up to New Hampshire, where we were working in a big ole summer resort-hotel (think Dirty Dancing). I was desk clerk, he was bellhop.

We had no money for a honeymoon (took 1 night at Letchworth State Park in NY), but eventually we've travelled many many places together in the US, Canada, Caribbean, and Europe; and we always refer to the trips as "Honeymoon, part 3," or "Honeymoon, part 18."

We're probably spending a little too much money travelling now -- 36 yrs. later -- that should go toward retirement travel, but we've seen too many cases where the retirement travel couldn't happen because of illness or death. So we've racked up some really nice memories, and just have to hope that we'll still be "Two for the Road" for at least another decade, or two, or...

Enjoy your "Honeymoon, Part 19," Scarlett! ((f))((f))((f))((f))

PS: Alice Roosevelt Longworth: "If you can't say anything good about someone, sit right here by me." ;-)
