The real shame, as I understand it, is that I can't get tastycakes when in Paris and the darned Germans' Oscar Meyer frankfurters aren't good enough to wash down with my overpriced diet coke?
Travel chat. Gotta love it. Sorry - I'm just kidding, to each his own. Oyyy.

All you dummies who have been taken in by the Ralph's and Safeway cards. If you took the time to check closely, Raleys and especially Albertson's are cheaper on everything that is not on a card special, and about the same or a little less for things tha are on card specials.

As Raleys advertises - "clipless coupons". In other words everyone gets the sale prices, not just card members.

Ralphs recently moved into Raleys home territory in Northern CA and they are REALLY struggling. A couple of the new Ralphs stores have actually closed.

I am another who is fed up with those stores who only give sale prices to those who join their 'club.' Begrudgingly, I use them, but when I sign up for them, I only give my name and city of residence. No other identifying information. And when I shop at a store (at home or on travel) where I do not have them, I always ask if they have a guest card. I have never been turned down, but don't count on them to offer one. I once paid an arm and a leg at a Safeway store on the west coast even after telling them that I was from out of town...and once, in Chicago at another store owned by Safeway but operated under a different name, a very nice check-out lady offered me the guest card. After that, I ask for guest cards even when I'm at home and don't want to bother to fill out the forms.

To Bea in Mayberry - If the price is 2 for $5, you could get 1 gallon of ice cream for $2.50. However if it says buy one get one free and you buy only one gallon of ice cream it is still $5 same as the price for 2.
